Monday on MSNBCâs âMorning Joe,â Republican presidential candidate former Gov. Mike Huckabee (R-AR) took a dig at his opponent Dr. Ben Carson, who is under scrutiny amid the suggestion of discrepancies in the details of his past.
Co-host Mika Brzezinski asked, âSo just curious, I mentioned Ben Carson because weâve focused a lot on him this morning and some of the discrepancies that have come out of his memoir. Iâm wondering if any of the books youâve written were put under the same scrutiny, would they find voids and holes and does that matter in terms of character and honesty?â
Huckabee answered, âWell, Mika, Iâve written 12 books. Iâm sure theyâve all been put under incredible scrutiny. And itâs not something that you donât expect. You know that if you run for offices are youâre going to be put through the sausage grinder. I think the most surprising thing is â Iâm not going to get into arguing what Ben did and didnât do but the one thing that I heard him say that I was taken aback he said was that people have been looking into his personal life and they are going after him. Iâm thinking pal you ainât seen nothing yet. They have not yet come after your kids and the rest of your family and they will. This is part of the process. This ainât bean bag, as we say. It is a brutal process. Iâve been through it for 26 years and life ainât fair. Iâm telling you. But I will go on record today and tell you this, Mika, I never hit my mother with a hammer and I never stabbed anybody. Never wrote about it either. so there you go. At least Iâm out there on the record for that.â

Fine...no go away huckster.
FWIW, I would not mind seeing the fundamentalist vote shift to Huckabee. The establishment ‘pubs don’t seem real fond of him, and that’s a pretty important endorsement.
Huck comes alive. I was waiting for this.
Given the current mood of the republican base following the MSM’s lead in a pile-on of other candidates isn’t the best idea.
Good for you Huck, take you and your irrelevance and go away.
Duly noted. Now go back to sleep.
The fact that Mr. X is a bad guy doesn’t make Mr. Y a good guy by default.
The Huckster joins the pig pile. The MSM and Politico celebrate, too.
The salient point being - it hasn’t even started yet for Ben.
Maybe his supporters can prevent the investigation, but I doubt it.
Huck’s right about the books that candidates have written will be scrutinized. Just par for the course.
Interesting to see what has held up, what can be disputed....in these books.
0blama’s writings got a pass, though. (The weird “Pop” poem comes to mind.)
Carson DID SAY,
“I was offered a full scholarship to West Point”.
Here is the video of it. He says it at 29 seconds

No Huck, you just pardoned a bunch who kept doing worse.
So what HAS he accomplished? At least Carson didn’t pardon any dangerous felons.
You’re right. He just tried to hurt people with knives and hammers.
Sounds like a joke, not a hit. Carson said he did it himself. So referring to it is not a hit.
Typical of a Southern Baptist preacher always looking at what others are doing and saying I am not that bad.
Luke 6:39-42 And He spoke a parable to them: “Can the blind lead the blind? Will they not both fall into the ditch? A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is perfectly trained will be like his teacher. And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not perceive the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me remove the speck that is in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the plank that is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck that is in your brother’s eye.
But you did get your kid off the charge of torturing and hanging a stray puppy to death.
I did steal furniture when I left the governor’s mansion though....
Huckster be down with the crew.
Okay, I don’t like Carson and I don’t like Huckabee. Having said that, I’ve been listening to everyone saying the Republican candidates should support Carson on this.
What kind of honesty and integrity does that show? Supporting someone who is obviously dishonest, how dishonest is questionable, but still dishonest.
I haven’t been concerned about the West Point story. Having a lot of contact with ROTC officers and military officers in the late 60’s, I can see Westmoreland saying to a top cadet “if you want to go to West Point I can arrange it, full ride” and it being misunderstood by a kid as an offer with full scholarship.
Saying he was violent in his youth, - even if others will not confirm it. Not even his brother because he’s afraid of publicity? Stupid thing to say and that I would have issue with. Then his heroism at college?
When it keeps piling on and it starts to appear that his autobiography is fiction, not fact, I hope other candidates are not expected to accept that just because he’s Republican.
Good for Huckabee. (sleaze that I think he is :) )
