Just how loaded is the phrase "gun control" to Americans?
A new Quinnipiac University poll would suggest that the word "control" makes a difference in whether Americans support stricter gun laws. Pollsters asked half of respondents whether they'd support "stricter gun control laws" and the other half whether they'd support "stricter gun laws."
The group that heard the word "control" was less likely to support tighter gun laws.

aw, geez....not another George Lakoff Ping...
I think a Democratic nominee needs to say that they will take guns away from all Americans and then for sure they are done. If they say gun control it will hurt but maybe not be lethal. Of course it could be in purple states where Democrats need to win those. Will be interesting to see where it all turns out. The Democratic nominees have gone so left this primary season that in the general it will hurt them. The Republicans actually have not gone as right as they typically do so the general should be continuation of what they are doing now which will help.
They don’t want a world without guns, they want a world without gun owners.
Or like the climate “issue” they’ll change the phrasing to be less threatening. Or at least “sound” less threatening. Something along the lines of “Firearms Safety Intiative”. I mean what kind of monster would/could oppose firearm safety?
Oh that is true. They are so transparent too. I remember it was Global Warming but then we had such horrible winters that they changed it to climate change because they were looking foolish. I have to admit I wish we fought as much as they do. Instead of abortion or killing babies......we are ending human life people? do you know that? That might help get even more on our side. Liberals love the phrase “Killing human life”.
Anytime the left actually tells the truth it hurts their push on that issue.
What millions of gun owners are *finally* beginning to realize is that regardless of what [unconstitutional] laws the lawless left manages to pass regarding 2A, they must never surrender their guns. Even if the left attempts to use force to take them.
Some on the left are also finally brazen enough to publicly acknowledge that (if) after guns are taken they want to incarcerate political dissidents. They want to do so. And they will if they can.
Make your choice people. Resist and maybe go down. Or cooperate and surely go down.
Does the phrase âgun controlâ hurt the push for new gun laws?
Let’s hope!
LOL!
The irony is rich with you.
We do have a guy who fights as much as they do.
Yet you mock and try to tear him down.
That is an extremely succinct and insightful statement. I would modify it only to add the qualification "private citizen" gun owners.
It is telling that they have to be careful how they phrase their message. If their ideas were good ones, ideas that people would readily get behind, they wouldn't have to be careful how they crafted their message. They could just come out and say "we want to disarm all private citizens so we can make the subservient subjects." But they know that won't fly, so they have to try to get there in small steps, couched in disingenuous terms. Lying fascists.
I prefer “citizen disarmament” because “forced gun confiscation from people who have committed no crimes” is too long.
Uh...No...The pretense that more laws will reduce the number of gun deaths hurts gun confiscation schemes.
These propagandists will never stop.
So if the word “control” is taken out of “gun control laws”, the respondents don’t acknowledge that it’s about control.
Oh I should adequately explain what I mean.
Fight and get things done.....not just yell and scream with zero results. There feel better.
Does the phrase 'gun control'; hurt the push for new gun laws?
Do bear tend to defecate within a wooded realm?
Since the Democratic National Socialist Party has taken off the mask, from now on The Phrase: Gun Control = CONFISCATION Along with:
Stricter gun laws = CONFISCATION
And:
Gun safety = CONFISCATION
