Now doubts are cast on Carson’s story of sheltering white classmates during Detroit race riots
Daily Mail ^ | 11/7/2015 | Kelly Mclaughlin

As Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson defends his past descriptions of receiving a scholarship offer for the US Military Academy at West Point, new doubts have been on his past, including a story of how he sheltered white classmates during Detroit race riots. Carson blasted the media on Friday after several reports questioned the validity of his book, Gifted Hands, but the presidential hopeful told the press that they were being unfair and he felt like the victim of a ‘witch hunt’.

Questions about Carson's assertions about his personal history, including his claim that he was a troubled youth beset at times by violent behavior, and his inaccurate pronouncements about historical events have gained attention as he has risen to the top of some national polls.

'I think what it shows, and these kinds of things show, is there is a desperation on behalf of some to try to find a way to tarnish me,' Carson said no Friday night during a news conference outside West Palm Beach. 'Because they have been looking through everything,' he added. 'They have been talking to everyone I have ever known and everybody I have ever seen. There has got to be a scandal.'

He told reporters, 'My job is to call you out when you're unfair, and I'm going to continue to do that.'

The most recent story under question is a harrowing tale he told last month of protecting his white high school classmates the day after Dr Martin Luther King Jr was assassinated in 1968. Violent race riots hit the neurosurgeon-turned-politician’s predominantly black Southwestern High School in Detroit. Carson, who was a junior lab assistant with a key to the school’s biology lab, sheltered his frightened friends from violence by bringing them into the workroom, he told the Wall Street Journal.

[the SDA false prophetess, Ellen G. White, has a pyramid symbol on her grave stone, so maybe there is a connection to her teachings and his pyramid belief.]

Very interesting.

Unfortunately, they didn’t vet Obama. But that does not negate the fact that there is something not right about Carson. It is fair to question his own words...in the media and from his book.

You're right, this turned into an ugly scene damned fast. The old feeding frenzy -- and our FRiend is right, the dogwhistle tooted just as soon as someone phonied up a poll to put Carson ahead of Trump so they could say "Trump's over" because Trump's beating them like a drum.

Notice how coverage of Trump has collapsed while they lynch Dr. Carson? The change from 10 days ago is dramatic.

Thats OK because a guy that supports the Bloomberg anti gun agenda isn’t fit to be my President. And thats that his 2A position is. Disarm Americans. You cannot selectively disarm based on population. Ergo he supports Bloomberg.

Agrees with Al Sharpton too.

A man that backs Amnesty is likewise not fir to lead America. Let him cure children and lets elect an actual conservative.

If you want to argue a man like that is a conservative, you need a dictionary.

Nobody said you answered to me. What I said was you are an ally of the left and GOPe in the high tech lynching of Ben Carson. Understand?

You are so very right! They wanted to lynch Trump by putting out false polls! Trump plays hard ball...he will fight back. That’s why I love Trump!

Mind you, they have been digging up stuff on Trump since day one, and they will continue doing so!

I'm afraid you called it.

They're just going through the deck of contenders, until they deal us Rubio or Jeb!! off the bottom of the deck. A rerun of 2008, when the big dogs turned again on their own vomit and picked McPain.

And Trump never apologizes. That’s a key trait of a true Conservative because there’s nothing to apologize for. Think of George Patton...the same with Donald Trump.

Dr. Carson’s words, from his own book and in the media, are fair game. It doesn’t matter if he is Black, White, Brown, or Yellow. You need to stop looking at race.

Like every candidate, Carson needs to be looked at.

Also, this is not a lynching...not even close. I know what lynchings look like. Understand?

That’s just it, his words are what is being vetted. I think it is obvious that Carson’s intent was for the reader to believe he had been offered a slot at West Point. I even had a Freeper make that claim some time back in a post. Carson did not receive such an offer, period.

We don’t want to fall into the trap of nominating someone without proper vetting. My major objections to Carson are his support for amnesty, un Constitutional positions on guns, his associations with race baiters, and now his support of TPP.

Simple answer: raise the standard deduction already in existence so people don’t pay tax on the first $50,000 (or pick a number) they earn.

That's not what he's advocating.

I don’t believe Carson is a black man, he is just posing. He is really a single, white, farrier from Las Cruces

Has anyone seen him in the rain which would make his spray tan streak?

I didn’t think so.

Well aren’t you the good little Marxist.

Somehow I don't think that the answer to the question is going to satisfy all those people who's taxes he's going to raise.

He's solid on immigration but not other things ("single payer" sounds ominous unless he means "me" paying my own bills with my own insurance), but the one thing that niggles in the back of my head is that Trump, just before he kicked off, had a substantial conversation with Bill Clinton. I didn't like that. I don't like anyone being toxified by The Rapist. (Newt used to talk about it, after meeting with Clinton, he needed about three days to detox.)

Darn Norm, you were not supposed to mention Carson’s ‘think alike’ buddy, the Rev. Al Sharpton here! (And then there is Carson’s longtime pal and mentor, Armstrong Williams, big time collaborations with the America hating muzzie scum, L. Farakhan, either!!!) Opps, now I am gonna be in trouble! Carson’s toadies ‘forget’ those 2 little items don’t they? Anyway, the second he ran his no-nothing yap about the 2A told me all I know about Carson.

It’s not all that uncommon for people in the private sector to “pad” their resume with either fictitious or enhanced activities and/or accomplishments. And, many employers sort of expect resumes to be a bit enhanced, and will just accept that unless it is really bad.

But, when you are a Republican running for POTUS, you better believe you are going to get a thorough anal exam, especially if you are a non politician, and every discrepancy is going to be checked. It seems non politicians are held to a higher standard than politicians, possibly because lying and conniving have come to be accepted as OK and part of the game of politics. This is why I feel, contrary to the prevailing current sentiment, that we’d be better off with the most conservative politician we can get, and that is my man, Ted Cruz.

It doesn’t make sense to be pulling his book apart There really isn’t any reason to doubt it’s accuracy for things that happened more than 50 years ago. It’s weird that he’s arguing that he had a bad temper and almost hit his mother with a hammer and the press is arguing the opposite. I read his book quite a while ago and enjoyed it.

When my daughter was told she could be offered a West Point scholarship, we didn’t think about it as not really being a scholarship. I thought it was an honor. He teacher was one of the people who could recommend students. I don’t remember exactly why he could. It’s not only your Congressmen. I think he had taught there or something. Her grades were very good, but I’m sure Ben’s were better. This wan more than 20 years ago and I can’t remember the details. But she wouldn’t even consider it. She didn’t want to be in the military.

(I wish I had considered the military and appreciate your service. My son joined the Army and would have loved to have been offered the same West Point position.)

Recently, there’s plenty to question Carson about. He supports Obama’s trade deal that was crafted in secret.

I haven’t heard him renounce his top aide’s, Armstrong Williams, praise of Farrahkan and Nation of Islam.

I haven’t heard anyone question him about Sharpton and second guessing the police officer in Ferguson.

I felt like he lied in the debate when he said there wasn’t a relationship with Mannatech. He definitely praises the company’s products and implies the products cured his prostrate cancer, even though he had prostrate surgery.

Glyconutrients is a named coined by Mannatech and means sugar nutrients. I don’t believe Americans have a deficiency of sugar in their diet. He is telling desperate people with cancer that they may be cured of cancer if they would only take Mannatech’s products. There isn’t any scientific evidence of the products being good for curing cancer and the rest of the company’s claims. He has to know that people admire and respect him and will believe in the products curative effects because a highly respected neurosurgeon is extolling their effectiveness. This is not the same as giving a speech to some group and talking about his life story or something else motivational.

Yeah well somehow I don’t think having half the country with no skin in the game redounds to low taxes and limited government.
