Real-estate mogul Donald Trump piled on presidential rival Ben Carson after an explosive Friday story revealed he had fabricated his history with West Point.
"WOW, one of many lies by Ben Carson! Big story," Trump reacted on Twitter.
The Republican businessman also retweeted a series of supporters slamming Carson, such as one who wrote: "How anyone could see him as president baffles me. Lies and insane theories."
Earlier in the afternoon, Politico's Kyle Cheney reported that Carson's campaign acknowledged that the candidate had not been offered a scholarship to attend the US Military Academy at West Point, as the inspirational author wrote in his memoir, "Gifted Hands."
That admission followed a prominent CNN investigation, which aired Thursday, detailing the network's efforts to find corroborating evidence for other parts of Carson's history...
CNN reported that it talked to people who knew Carson 50 years ago, when the incidents were said to have occurred, but no one was familiar with Carson's attacks. The retired neurosurgeon blasted the report as a "bunch of lies" on Friday, insisting that he had not provided enough details for the media to invade the privacy of his victims.
Trump has also repeatedly taunted Carson over the CNN investigation and his unusual theory about the origins of the Egyptian pyramids.
"He hit a friend in the face with a [rock]. He tried to kill somebody with a knife and he said he suffers from pathological disease. OK?" Trump said in a interview set to air on Fox News' "The O'Reilly Factor" later Friday, according to a transcript. "When you suffer from pathological disease, you’re not really getting better unless you start taking lots of pills and things."
He added: "There's something very strange here, there’s something very strange that's going on." (Snip)

83 days til the Iowa Caucus. Time for Trump to smother Carson in his crib. Carson has got to go. An unpleasant but necessary task. Trump needs to wrap up the nomination and move on to Hillary.
Trump better do that sooner than later.
Politico now finds that Dr. Carson never was given a slot at West Point and never even applied! Of course, Dr. Carson never said he either applied or was admitted - just that someone said they could get him in.
Where are the lies?
It was in August 2014 that Dr. Carson approved the formation of a political action committee, and by September 2014 Carson is quoted as saying it was likely he’d run. He terminated his relationship with FoxNews in November of that same year.
On May 3, 2015, Dr. Carson announced he was running. Mr. Trump announced his candidacy on June 16, 2015.
It’s your contention, then, that more than a month before Mr. Trump announced his bid, Carson entered the race to take away from Trump’s support?

No kidding. I heard Carson talking to Hannity today, and when Sean asked him whether or not he actually spoke with Gen. Westmoreland, he replied, "I may have."

Judging from the traffic I saw on earlier threads, it appeared to me that most Freepers were buying into the Politico spin. Your mileage may vary.
I really dislike Carson for a variety of reasons but it seems there is a coordinated effort to destroy him. Haven’t figured out why yet, seems it only benefits Rubio and Cruz.
The lion’s share of the Carson support will fall to Trump and he knows it. He wants to get this nomination wrapped up. Its time for Carson to go so he can really concentrate on finishing off Rubio. Iowa is coming right up. Then NH.
Personally I get the feeling Ben Carson does not know what he thinks from one day to the next. He appears to be drugged up. I don’t mean he’s a drug addict I mean meds.
I don’t know about that. I don’t believe that Trump is behind all of this but I do believe someone is. If Carson falls, Rubio and Cruz move up in the polls.

Carson will be on the Factor tonight walking back his original version of the story. Politico already changed their headline.
It's pretty mysterious. I heard Carson being interviewed by Sean Hannity yesterday, and he sounded like he was talking from some parallel dimension. I mean, the guy doesn't sound anything like a presidential candidate. More like someone just woke him up from a dream or something.
I'm not quite sure what to make of the way he speaks, but it's a distraction, that's for sure.
I’ll be glad to see Carson call it a day and go back to his private life.
