Real-estate mogul Donald Trump piled on presidential rival Ben Carson after an explosive Friday story revealed he had fabricated his history with West Point.
"WOW, one of many lies by Ben Carson! Big story," Trump reacted on Twitter.
The Republican businessman also retweeted a series of supporters slamming Carson, such as one who wrote: "How anyone could see him as president baffles me. Lies and insane theories."
Earlier in the afternoon, Politico's Kyle Cheney reported that Carson's campaign acknowledged that the candidate had not been offered a scholarship to attend the US Military Academy at West Point, as the inspirational author wrote in his memoir, "Gifted Hands."
That admission followed a prominent CNN investigation, which aired Thursday, detailing the network's efforts to find corroborating evidence for other parts of Carson's history...
CNN reported that it talked to people who knew Carson 50 years ago, when the incidents were said to have occurred, but no one was familiar with Carson's attacks. The retired neurosurgeon blasted the report as a "bunch of lies" on Friday, insisting that he had not provided enough details for the media to invade the privacy of his victims.
Trump has also repeatedly taunted Carson over the CNN investigation and his unusual theory about the origins of the Egyptian pyramids.
"He hit a friend in the face with a [rock]. He tried to kill somebody with a knife and he said he suffers from pathological disease. OK?" Trump said in a interview set to air on Fox News' "The O'Reilly Factor" later Friday, according to a transcript. "When you suffer from pathological disease, you’re not really getting better unless you start taking lots of pills and things."
He added: "There's something very strange here, there’s something very strange that's going on." (Snip)

I am beginning to think/believe that Carson as a relatively new Republican was set up by some person(s) or group to use the black community to get the steam out of Trump’s movement. What these persons didn’t account for was ‘what goes around comes around’. They cannot make a POTUSA out of a buffoon with a shady past even in todays political world.
Trump is a pos. He wins the nomination I write in Cruz in the general election.
I wouldn’t have voted for Nancy Reagan. I wouldn’t hold Reagan’s indulging Nancy’s belief in astrology against him. And Reagan had a long history of both holding office, and offering regular commentary on current events. People knew where he stood.
Carson’s theory of the pyramids is absurd, mostly because he thinks they were all built by Joseph of the Bible. They pyramids could not possibly have all been built during one person’s lifetime. But by itself that wouldn’t be a big deal, but combined with everything else, including Carson’s demeanor, it’s going to take a toll.
I disagree that it was most. There's a certain very aggressive segment that had been willing to jump on any perceived tidbit of weakness in Dr. Carson. They jumped on it and some were swept up with them.

Really? The MSM actually tried accusing Trump of raping his 1st wife. Did I miss the rapist allegations against the others? Calling Dr Carson out for telling easily verifiable lies in print is not what I see as being tough on him. Did he or did he not dine with Gen Westmoreland? Did Westmoreland, or anybody else, offer him a full scholarship at West Point? If those things did not happen as he described, then he is lying. Pointing that out is not being tough in my view.

Agreed. Totally. The Carson/Politico dustup is one that Trump should not take sides in, or if he's going to take a side, it should not be in support of Politico.
But, he'll do what he'll do, and people will deal with his choices as they see fit. There is ZERO upside for Trump to get involved in this.

Whereas Carson admits to hitting his mother with a hammer, stabbing someone named ‘Bob’ where ‘Bob’ is not the real name, calling out the Egyptian Pyramids to be storage structures for grain despite evidence or experience, and now a possible fabrication about West Point ....
And whereas Carson is propped up by a series of polls that are mostly by unknown ‘consultants’, academics or known enemies of Donald Trump, and whereas Carson has a campaign deputy who is a known pollster and mercenary ....
And whereas Donald Trump is running a serious campaign for President and must by necessity point out all his positives against any opponent’s negatives ....
And whereas Donald Trump is asked incessantly about his view on Carson’s bizarre past behavior ....
Therefore, Donald must stay silent.
There may be a point to it, but on the other hand, this is bizarre behavior on a candidate and must be addressed.
Such bizarre behavior would be similar to hearing that one of the candidates had engaged in devil worship in his/her past. If Carson slammed such a candidate for this bizarre behavior, would he be admonished and viewed unfavorably? On the other hand, if he was asked repeatedly about his view on it and said he would remain silent, would that silence be construed as protecting the powerful?
Donald Trump does not like bizarre and low-class behavior. He speaks his mind about it. Why shouldn’t he? Why shouldn’t any of us speak our minds about it? If someone was taking a hammer to their mother, a knife to an acquaintance, ludicrous theories on history and a possible lie on a prestigious academy, and claimed to be a frontrunner in an election against a most horribly corrupt person in the other party, then Donald Trump is supposed to be silent? He was not silent on Hillary’s breaches of national security, but he’s supposed to be silent on Carson’s bizarre past?
First, as a Texas Conservative, I was all in for Perry, but that didn’t last long, BUT then the GREAT Scott Walker was my night in shining armour, well ditto the perry thing, but I still got ben carson, can’t go wrong with a brain surgeon, right.....

It would be a stupid political move to pile on Carson after he’s going down in flames.
unless you find Trump coordinated false stories against Carson it’s stupid to hold him responsible.. if Carson has to drop out it’s because he couldn’t take the beating ALL of the candidates are going to have to go through.. Trump more than all of them so far put together... that’s why we keep losing elections
