Atlanta Police Illegally Stockpiling Confiscated Guns? .
Whats illegal about the police storing a massive collection of firearms?
It’s against state law. Didn’t watch the video? There is NO WAY all of these stored firearms are pending legal cases. Why sell the guns when they can hand them out to the Black Lives Matter crowd when the SHTF?
Maybe they’re “supposed to” dispose of them. Sell or destroy? I don’t know. Anybody from Georgia know what the rules are concerning “confiscated firearms” there?
For later
I know I would sure like to recover my 03A3.
Wonder if it’s in there somewhere?
My guess is they’re for throwdowns
What has been SOP on firearms in Ga police custody is they are supposed to run ballistics tests against each one and check for evidence match on unsolved cases. The tests are to be done by the GBI, who can handle 2% of the needed ballistics tests annually.
At least that is what was going on up till 2 years ago, doubtful anything has changed.
The law mandates that guns seized in a criminal investigation be returned to the last known lawful owner. When that is not possible, the guns are to be sold to a FFL holder through sales held not less than every 6 months. The Dems in charge of Atlanta ire just ignoring the law because they don’t like the idea of people owning guns.
Now it makes sense, thanks.
Seldom bother wasting 3-10 minutes on a video when I could read and comprehend the same thing in a fraction of the time.
Does the new law say WHEN the guns must be made available to the public?
Also interesting that the law specifies, “Licensed as firearms collectors, dealers importers or manufacturers” as the entities who can buy or receive these firearms. No mention of plain old CCW licensed citizens.
CCW holders aren’t licensed gun dealers.
No kidding. So why are all those listed able to receive these guns but not CCW holders?
Kind of my point.
Because the guns have to go through licensed dealers. CCW holders aren’t licensed dealers.
So John Q. public has to find out which dealers have purchased the guns and then buy from them. Got it. Seems kinda stupid since the police are the sellers. It would be no more work for the PD since they have to complete all the paperwork anyway.
The cops undoubtedly don’t want the extra work or responsibility of selling guns direct to the public. Imagine the outcry if some gun bought from a PD was used in a crime. There are already a lot of gun-control commies trying to make sure all recovered guns are destroyed. Cops don’t care about making their department money, since it doesn’t go into their pockets, plus, most police chiefs are RAT politicians anyway.
Apparently I was trying to apply logic to a situation where none exists.
Yeah, it’s the government. Logic need not apply.
