The way his book described it, it wasn’t a “thug past” so much as a boyhood dispute that got out of hand because he was having trouble dealing with anger. It wasn’t described as habitual behavior, rather a frightening overreaction that could have been worse had the other kid’s buckle not deflected the knife. I was under the impression it was just a pocketknife. The incident made him realize he had a real problem and needed to think about ways to control his temper so if he got angry again it wouldn’t turn out disastrous all around.
It’s not unusual at least in my day for fights to break out that parents were never privy to... once you’ve grown up and moved on it’s water under the bridge.
Kinda like Obama’s fake name girlfriends but somehow I believe Carson and he might be on happy drugs.
