Calling all aspiring astronauts: NASA announced today (Nov. 4) that it will be accepting applications starting in December for its next round of astronaut training.
Currently, there are 47 active members in NASA's astronaut corp., with the last group of new astronauts selected in 2013. Applications for the new class will be accepted from mid-December through mid-February, and those selected to begin astronaut training will be announced in mid-2017.
"With more human spacecraft in development in the United States today than at any other time in history, future astronauts will launch once again from the Space Coast of Florida on American-made commercial spacecraft and carry out deep-space exploration missions that will advance a future human mission to Mars," said NASA in a statement.

For a currently non-existent program. Maybe mark kelley-giffords will do us a favor and rejoin the corps. I hear the folks on Mars are in favor of more guncontrol. Do you have to work for elon musk? Do muzzies get preference?

I know, more muslim community outreach.
Send a crew of two muslims and two homos into space to show solidarity.
Have “Jihadis in spaaaaaace” logos standing by.

Well, I’m middle aged, overweight, my vision is kinda poor and I’m lousy at math. But I would love to ride on a rocket, so yeah, count me in!

White males with astrophysics degrees from MIT need not apply.

Didn’t Hillary want to be an astronaut? Take her....please....

I think the last human spacecraft was Alice Kramden.

It must be time for a Muslim, transsexual, gay, and whatever other flavor of the day, astronaut.

Not nearly enough diversity. A muslim, one of Obama's sons, a homosexual, and pajama boy. Set up a live feed, make it pay-per-view, and eliminate the national debt. A win-win, all around.

Me too, but instead of riding on a rocket, I just want a woman crazy enough about me to drive across country wearing diapers.

More than likely. She’s just so, uh, so experienced on everything from dodging sniper fire to being named after Sir Edmund to being steno of state, senator, granny. I’m sure she could pull it off with ease.

With ‘Muslim Outreach’ being their main stated goal, who would want to join NASA at this point?

You nailed it. That is more true than most people realize.
I guarantee the next flight crew WILL have a minority female, a muslime, a white female, a lesbian and homosexual, and the single token straight white male will be sitting in the back as some sort of undefined mission specialist while the ‘diverse’ fly the platform. . .

The new criteria for successful entry into the astronaut program shall be black, female, lesbian who has experienced a “spiritual journey” through Buddhism, Zoroastrianism, Judaism, Christianity, Confucianism and currently worships Gaea. She will be a single mother artificially inseminated and married to her "significant other." She will be a genius having graduated from the most prestigious elementary school in Washington D.C. Her IQ will be 85. She recently left Federal prison being released by the negro community organizer from Chicago, having served five years for involuntary manslaughter resulting from her killing a family of five whites using a machete.
