NEW ORLEANS - Republican Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne, a fourth-place finisher in the recent gubernatorial primary, will endorse Democrat John Bel Edwards for governor over Republican David Vitter, sources tell Eyewitness News.
Dardenne is expected to make the announcement official at an event Thursday at LSU in Baton Rouge, sources told WWL-TV and The Advocate.
Dardenne jousted bitterly with U.S. Senator Vitter in the primary election.
"It's not that big of a surprise, but it's a huge endorsement for Edwards," said WWL-TV political analyst Clancy DuBos.
Edwards had just about 40 percent of the vote in the primary to run first. Vitter, a Republican, finished with 25 percent of the vote, finishing second and in the runoff on Oct. 24.
Also on Wednesday, Vitter announced that he has won the backing of former Republican Gov. Mike Foster.
Election day is set for Nov. 21.
That did not work in Kentucky.....only 25% of the African-American vote came out to vote on election day, mostly from Louisville, and.....some of those voting voted for the Republican candidate, Matt Bevin, who won by an 80,000 vote margin. Ya know what really matters...is Republican/Conservative “Turnout, turnout, turnout...and more turnout!!! Get them GOP voters to get off their butts and get out and vote for Vitter!!!
Obama has really screwed African-Americans....and a good number of them know it!!!
Dardenne is a RINO loser who’s career with the GOP is now over, that’s what’s up with that. We have a dem troll going around pimping for Edwards, don’t listen to him/her/it.
Maybe Republican Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne does not know that Democrats are fundamentally evil because they support same sex marriage, persecute Christians, use government agencies such as the IRS, EPA, DoJ to falsely attack Republicans, support murder of babies, increased taxes, and are part and parcel of the most corrupt administration this country has ever experienced!
Are you sure that Dardenne is a Republican? Maybe he is GOPe.
Jindal is a conservative, he doesn’t back democrats, especially scumbag democrats like dem floor leader Edwards who’s job #1 has been to disrupt Jindal’s agenda. Dardenne is a longtime well known RINO.
I know nothing about LA politics. Can you give a quick synopsis of the pros and cons of the two candidates (from a conservative perspective)?
After Matt Bevin’s totally unexpected landslide victory in Kentucky, I think we should take the polls that show David Vitter behind with a grain of salt. Even though Edwards portrays himself as a ‘conservative Democrat’, he’s still an Obama-supporting Democrat and should be defeated.
Conservatives in Louisiana need to wake up and support Vitter. As far as I can tell, he’s no RINO.

All the MSM in Louisiana, is spouting all this crap. What they forget to mention is the fact that Bel Edwards recieved all of the democrap vote, and the republican vote was split by Vitter, Dardenne, and Angell.

John Bel Edwards voted for everthing Piyush Jindal wanted, and Louisiana is a big effing mess. Jindal wanted taxes raised the year to cover a giant hole in the budget, and got 850 million in taxes. And that covers the budget until January 1st. The fiscal year ends June 30th. Kind of a big gap.
Vitter will mop the floor with Edwards’ ass. From your mouth to God’s ears! Also, Democrats use the same BS nationally. I can’t even watch the local TV news because you can hear the bias in their reporting. I wish we had a local news source other than those who are just political arms of the dem party.
