Democrats tightened their control of the state Assembly in Tuesday's elections, wresting at least three seats away from a Republican party ruled by Gov. Chris Christie, a presidential candidate whose popularity has dropped at home.

It means Democrats will control at least 51 of the 80 seats in the lower house of the state Legislature as of January — their biggest majority since 1979.

He has never been able to fight off the democrats. Never. Which is why he can never be president. Not that he has much chance. Lets hope that this will encourage him to drop out of the race.

While conservatives and Republicans won across the nation the low information voters proved they are alive and well in the People’s Republics of New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

They’re not low-info voters. They’re well-educated libs who know how to rape their fellow taxpayers to collect great, outsized bennies for themselves. And a lot of them know they’ll be dead before the economy collapses under the ponzi schemes they endorse so they don’t care what the ultimate result is.

In Bridgeport Ct democrat Joe Ganim won the election for mayor after serving 7 years in prison for government corruption. The cities are rotten to the core but the people living there still vote for corrupt democrats. I don't know how a person can vote for a creep like Ganim. You would have to be a total moron to vote for him. Bridgeport is loaded with idiots.

When the fruits of statism and corruption reach the point where the majority of the electorate benefits from them, you've reached the tipping point. Once that happens, only an external event can change the paradigm. New Jersey has reached that point.

I left New Jersey in 1971 to go into the Army after ROTC in college, and I never went back except for brief visits to see family. In 2005, after seeing Camden, a viable town in the Fifties and Sixties, become a copy of Dresden or Grozny, it became obvious that things had gone too far to fix peacefully.

Gay. Nice going, Christie Creme. Maybe your lard ass should be focusing on your current job instead of running for President.

Republican Congressman Scott Garrett is generally recognized as one of the most conservative members of the U.S. House of Representatives.

I'll bet most Freepers would be astonished to learn that he represents the 5th Congressional District in New Jersey of all places.

It's also a bit surprising that New Jersey's twelve congressional districts are split 6-6 between the Republicans and Democrats. For all of it's reputation as an urban, industrial dump, New Jersey has some of the wealthiest counties in the U.S. and some very pretty countryside, too.

There are more than a few homes like this in New Jersey:

That is some serious "old money" there, folks.

I wonder if Christie ever heard the word “VETO”?

layers of clothes, wood and coal stoves are good too. Humid cold is as bad (not as bad to me) as humid summer. I lived in southwest MO for 13 years in homes built as summer houses (no exterior wall insulation) and without AC until 2010. You learn, you adapt. I love dry heat and dry cold. My hair likes humidity, though.

I don’t like liberal cities no matter what their temperate zone. They won’t survive the Great Earthquake.
