The latest U.S. intelligence suggests that the crash of Metrojet Flight 9268 was most likely caused by a bomb on the plane planted by ISIS or an ISIS affiliate, according to a U.S. official familiar with the matter. The official stressed that there has not been a formal conclusion reached by the U.S. intelligence community. "There is a definite feeling it was an explosive device planted in luggage or somewhere on the plane," the official told CNN's Barbara Starr.
The assessment was reached, the official said, by looking back at intelligence reports that had been gathered before Saturday's plane crash and intelligence gathered since then. The United States did not have credible or verified intelligence of a specific threat prior to the crash, however, the official said, prior to the incident, "there had been additional activity in Sinai that had caught our attention."
Another U.S. official said the intelligence regarding ISIS is in part based on monitoring of internal messages of the terrorist group. Those messages are separate from public ISIS claims of responsibility, that official said.

Too many pieces moving all at once now, to really say that.
The UK is having a “COBRA” meeting, right now.
They have already banned flights to Sharm, and are talking about a Naval/Military Evac of Brits in Egypt.
I’m thinking this is deflection. We probably know that it was brought down with a U.S. Manpad.
Why evac Egypt? That seems overkill.
Also, I have to say Europeans (and yes Russians and Ukrainians on the flight are Europeans) seem to go on vacations even to war zones. I mean there is a war on you will find a European vacationing at a beach resort miles from the war zone.
I know they get a lot of vacation time in Europe and an urge to use the days but this is ridiculous.
FOABs, Cluster munitions and Tzar Bomba for all I care. Get all of them Ivan.

AP confirms that US intelligence agencies have preliminary evidence, including intercepts, suggesting a bomb brought down the Russian plane.
I thought it was a YouTube video.
Putin will have his forces bomb somebody or something and he ain’t care about so called collateral damage.
I don’t understand why Russia is so vehemently denying that this was a bombing and that ISIS may have been involved, because the alternative is that their own aircraft maintenance and safety standards are shoddy (which is undoubtedly true, though probably not the cause in this case). Moreover, if ISIS is to blame, that actually helps Russia propagandize its Syrian involvement.
Didn’t ISIS claim to have done it? Could be B.S., but they did post a video of a plane exploding and going down.
I’m surprised the US would release this info. Unless they’re wanting Russia to escalate it’s actions thus giving the US an excuse to go to war. Just one more possible excuse for Obama to never leave office.
Damn they are smart. FReepers thought that days ago. LOL
Anyone who is not Muslim is an infidel.
Whoa...
All Putin-hell is going to be incoming on ISIS..
How should Putin respond to this attack?
I had sense that the plane was taken down either by a bomb or by a surface to air missile.
The only part of the ME that is worth even going to, IMHO, is Israel, only because of its role in both faith and history.
Yep, and we concluded that it was probably a bomb because the plane was up to high for it to be a missile ISIS had.
The US Intelligence must have been monitoring FR.
Ha ha
It was a spontaneous bombing in response to an offensive You Tube video.
I knew a bomb brought it down when they said that the plane was “Inspected” before takeoff..yeah inspected by some ISIS goon who probably put the bomb either on the exterior of the plane or had one of his buddies smuggle it on board either way we need to find out how this happened so this cant happen here because that is a scary thought to think that a bomb that can go through metal detection can just slip pass TSA and we already know how awful TSA is here
