Big Wind hides evidence of turbine bird kills and gets rewarded. Here is how they do it.
In 1984 the California Energy Commission .. the primary environmental issue alluded to was the extreme hazard that wind turbines posed to raptors.
...
Since the early 1980s, the industry has known there is no way its propeller-style turbines could ever be safe for raptors. With exposed blade tips spinning in open space at speeds up to 200 mph, it was impossible. Wind developers also knew they would have a public relations nightmare if people ever learned how many eagles are actually being cut in half - or left with a smashed wing, to stumble around for days before dying.
To hide this awful truth, strict wind farm operating guidelines were established - including high security, gag orders in leases and other agreements, and the prevention of accurate, meaningful mortality studies.
...
Incredibly, the APWRA report actually admitted: We found one raptor carcass buried under rocks and another stuffed in a ground squirrel burrow ... It is easy to see how human "errors" keep bird mortality low.
...
Studies worsen as turbines proliferate and increase in size .
...
The result was significantly more fatalities of golden eagles, red-tailed hawks, American kestrels, burrowing owls, mallards, horned larks and western meadowlarks. Turbines with slower rotations per minute actually made it appear that there was more space and "greater windows of time." This fooled birds, by giving them the illusion that they had open flight space between the rotating blades.
In fact, the illusion fools people, too. The newest turbines move their blades at 10-20 rotations per minute, which appears to be slow - but for their blade tips this translates into 100-200 mph

Rodent populations flourish in wind turbine areas due to the reduction of predator birds.
Is that the reason that the food at KFC tastes a bit funny these days?
So what is your estimate, and the science behind how you come to your scientific conclusion?
Wind generators will not last 50 years, much less “thousands”.
With that many killed you would think there would be some videos out there for a few of them. I see none.
39 Million birds? Isn’t this what the left wants... to lessen their population, for more room for humans...
oh wait, I have that mixed up, they want less humans, more birds.
If I cared about wind power, which I don’t, I would defend it by saying: evolution. Birds that learn to stay away from windmills will leave more little birdies to group up into the future.
We don’t have Wind Turbines here ,we have too much wind and tons of Oil
Has anyone ever done the thermo on what is actually taking place at a wind turbine? It produces energy by doing work. Theoretically, there is a slight temperature drop between the upstream and downstream air especially across the huge wind turbine farms in the US and Europe. Does this not affect global climate? WE are taking energy out of the air which means that we are cooling it.
That’s a drop in the bucket; cats kill from 1.4 billion to as many as 3.7 billion birds in the continental U.S. each year, according to a recent study.
"Cats: 365 million to 1 billion"
I can believe it. A month ago in one week, my two cats brought an assortment of catches to our backyard deck, of birds, snakes, gophers and mice. I wondered how they caught birds until I saw them make a run at a tree, climbing the tree trunk and branches to go after birds high up in the tree.
For the love of God, someone please photoshop a picture of a wind farm with a KFC located beneath each turbine.
WE may end up with a birdless world
The DDT of the 21st century, perhaps.
They grow their own.
