Kingston Girl Wants To Change Constitution So She Can Run For President
CBS Boston ^ | 10/28/2015 | Staff

BOSTON (CBS) - President Alena Mulhern has a nice ring to it. But the little girl from Kingston can't actually be elected to our nation's highest office. Alena was adopted from China. So since she wasn't a US citizen from birth, the Constitution forbids her from becoming President. She doesn't accept that and Wednesday she took her campaign for change to the State House.

"We should all have the opportunity to run for president," 10 year old Alena Mulhern says as she testifies before a State House committee.

She's not going to let anyone tell her the top job is beyond her reach just because she was born in China.

“I was under the impression that his father was NOT a citizen and not apply for citizenship until after Ted was born,,well after. If wrong, I apologize, but I remember reading that..perhaps on FR, I can’t recall the source.”

You are right, according to wikipedia Cruz’s father became a citizen in 2005. Not sure how Cruz is accepted as a nat born citizen but Ob@sturd was not.

The age of zero’s mother at the time of his birth prohibited her from conferring citizenship to him and he was probably born in Canada at a home for unwed mothers.

Fine.

In that case, I don’t want to hear anyone, especially Ann Coulter, complaining that Ted Cruz isn’t qualified to be president because he was born in Calgary.

Go and fix China.

Why should she go and fix China? She's an American.

Except his mother actually married the no account sperm donor.

So, the rule you desire would be that some naturalized citizens are eligible?

Also, allegiance is not merely a state of mind. It has legal duties and obligations owed to a country by its citizens in return for the protections guaranteed by that country to its citizens.

That would be a hard case to make to someone whose country of birth's one child policy made adoption by foreigners their only means of survival.

No, but she can give birth to a future president.

Some people cannot see the obvious which stares right in front of them.

I agree. Obama still got in and he was still able to reek havoc.

Just take a look at Obama if you still need to ask that question.

Obama is not an answer, but then you've always excelled in non-answers.

Ahem, are you saying that John Jay has less understanding of the Constitution than a ten year old kid?

You must be confused with a religion thread. The Constitution was never intended to be immutable.

In a word, yes. I think there should be flexibility for the functional "babe in the woods."

I’ve never heard of you and you have one of those suspiciously undocumented homepages with 1998 as your start date, lol.

Sure you have, but I get the impression your memory might not be what it once was....
