Fox Business Network is hosting the next Republican presidential debate, and today the network sent out information to the candidates about the format.
The New York Times obtained the memo, and right off the bat FBN is doing away with opening statements.
-snip-
FBN will have an undercard debate as wellââmoderated by Trish Regan, Sandra Smith, and Wall Street Journal Washington Bureau Chief Gerald Seibââbefore the big 9 pm primetime debate on November 10th, moderated by Maria Bartiromo, Neil Cavuto, and WSJ Editor-in-Chief Gerard Baker.

“The debate is being scripted by Gerard Baker and Karl Rove.”
I would not doubt the Karl Rove angle at all.
Just another political ambush..
Baker and Rove’s Pre-Fox Debate hit on Trump:

The might rid themselves of Baker and replace him with Lou Dobbs.
You bring in their number , Trump is the master of negotiations , even though Harwood lied that it was never a three hour debate.
I bet Trump's rules are different than what is in this article
Expect a heavily patronizing and humiliating intro of the debate from Fox, with plenty of childish finger-wagging about manners and seriousness, as if the candidates are children and the universally loathed MSM somehow has moral authority over our political representatives.
Never give the MSM an inch to insert their “framing” poison. Even when it’s Fox.
Recall the 2012 debate after Newt had undressed the media and received a standing ovation from the audience.
The moderators opened by cautioning the candidates that no attacks on themselves would be tolerated...and that the audience was to restrain themselves and remain in their seats or risk ejection.
Baker’s debate questions are being written by Karl Rove. Baker is a longtime Karl Rove fan-boy.
I can’t watch it anyway because I can’t afford it.
How come Cruz isn’t in on this. He was the one that lit the fuse. I wouldn’t mind even Rubio, Christie, Huck and Fiorina participating - they’re all of the same mind on this and they would make a formidable united front.
Opening statements are not necessary. I think closing statement suck too.
I also think when their time is up, the mic should be shut off. Automatically.
These guys are acting like 7th grade girls.
If you cannot get your point across in 60 seconds, it’s not gonna happen.
Fox is not our friend. After Bloody Megan and her circus, our candidates should not let them play anymore.
FUFox
The candidates should organize their own debate. Invite the networks to bid on the exclusive coverage and, if no bidders let C-Span cover it. Guaranteed there will be bidders.
Good statement and ideas from Shapiro.
I don’t have a problem with the candidates being asked tough questions. They should be. But the disrespect of the moderators and their interjection into the debate really infuriates me. I’m not tuning in to see some media personality. If I wanted to listen to them, I would waste my time and watch them on their respective t.v. stations. (that includes Fox).
Something needs to change.
“Something needs to change.”
Can’t keep doing the same thing and expecting different results.
I can recommend adding The Conservative Treehouse to that list. Excellent stuff there.
Any question or statement that can be interpreted as “You’re not qualified to be President unless you act how I think you should act” should be answered with “I have a copy of the Constitution right here, Please point to that line where it says that acting how you, a debate moderator, deems Presidential is a necessary qualification. I’ll wait.”
Probably A1.
I noticed all the Trump people on this thread who want walk away from debates with their guy in the lead. In the NFL it is called prevent defense. Late in the 4th quarter it might work but we haven’t even hit halftime.
