Then have people making videos, so the world can see it. That's the LAST thing these fascists want - publicity.
What difference would that make?
Get YOUR children out of the government indoctrination centers - NOW!
I would think a more humble and devout man would avoid the attention of the middle of the field.
If the players have any balls they will go on strike to support their coach.
Of course, the real point is why should anyone who respects the free will of the participants object.
The photo I saw looked like he was about half-way between the sideline and the middle of the field.
Ironic.. In a state namesaked after our First President..
Who prayed..
A lot..
Before during and after battles for our freedoms.
I think he’ll be fine. I’m sure he probably misses the school and students that he devoted so much time to and feels CRUCIFIED for his beliefs.
A private or Christian school will pick him up.
If the school reverses and tries to hire him back, I hope he doesn’t go back... and all the parents follow him to private school.
Good. These schools need to be afraid to pull this sort of attempt at crushing religious liberty. They need to pay a price, over and over, if need be. At the moment, Liberals look on Christians as a dog which they feel free to kick. If they find out the dog will bit them, they'll stop kicking it.
I am sure legally none of the following would pass anybody’s muster.
The tenuous thread the school has is that the field is nominally “school” property. In reality, it is taxpayer property that the school manages.
The event/task the coach was being paid to do was over. He did not pray during his work period.
His employment function was at an end so he is no longer speaking as a school employee.
We have a problem with stupid in this judicial system of ours...the idea of separation of church anbd state is not in the constitution anywhere. It is made up out of whole cloth.Yet we mindlessly repeat the same stupid mantra continually.
This crap needs to stop and stop NOW.
So, again, what difference would it make? Are you suggesting that he had a right to pray secretly on the sidelines, but no right to pray openly on the field?
No, not suggesting that at all. My post above is clear of what I suggest.
He had an employment contract that said he would not. He was informed that he was violating that contract. He continued the behavior.
What is the next HR step?
He was free to find a job where he did not have to make that a condition of employment. His good name went with that promise. He broke it. Now he will have to be arguing that the rule in his CONTRACT is so onerous to his free practice of religion and the district was not overreaching it’s responsibility of employees practicing their religion with minors under their charge.
The test of free speech is not someone that has a religion that agrees with you, but protecting minority rights that you would probably disagree with. If he chose to sacrifice a chicken on the fifty yard-line more than a few people would object...myself included.
But he chose KNOWINGLY to violate his contract to be a martyr. Isn’t the point of being a martyr to have consequence for your faith?
PS The satanists that were supposed to show up, they were the obvious and very predictable reaction. Government schools are a problem, they have some crazy ideas, but this would not be one of them.
Only 47 members of Congress supported his right to pray? We have some serious work to do.
If the school reverses and tries to hire him back, I hope he doesnât go back... and all the parents follow him to private school.<<
And the publicly collected dollars for that student’s education should follow the individual student. Competition is good...
