The CNBC debate featured a little - though not a lot - of policy substance. It also featured a lot of clashes between moderators and candidates. When the dust settled, the presidential field looked potentially reshaped.
Cruz was strong, while Jeb Bush was once again weak. But Rubio is now three for three, and he is now the most important figure in the GOP race, even as he trails Trump and Carson in the polls.

Look at that comment after Cruz: “He learned to debate.” LOL, this guy has been a debate god since his days at Princeton. Everyone in debate competition conceded he was the best in a long, long time.
Umm, no. Rubio certainly helped himself last night. I love the fact that if nothing else he ended Jeb!’s campaign. But to say Trump went down is MSM wish casting. He seemed to me to hang back and let the others who needed to make a move do the lifting.
The winner was Cruz. Without his leadership would the rest of the field have rose up against CNBC? I wonder. Trump, yes, but the rest?
No, amnesty Marco isn’t even on my voter card - ever. Even if he’s second on the ticket.
Hahahahhaahaaaaaaaa
Rubio is Jeb 2.0, the new and improved Establishment doll.
Having to address personal financial mismanagement and missed votes was NOT a “win” for Rubie. He comes across as yet an another corrupt, incompetent DC insider.
you do realize collegiate debate has nothing in common with these staged media events don’t you?
I can see Cruz picking up support as a result of this, especially from Carson, but also some undecideds.
I don’t see Rubio doing much more than just consolidating the RINO vote by stealing support from ¡Jeb!
Of course I do.
That graphic is Bs.
“to say Trump went down is MSM wish casting”
MSM must keep the race interesting. They can’t let Trump or anyone else appear to be without competition.
I’m not sure that analysis fits with Hillary.
Just where in the hell did they drag up this Carney? Has he been living under a rock for a decade? "Learned how to debate?"
Give me a break. His skill at it and in ANY exchange with the enemy is exactly why Media, RINOs and Democrats avoid him at all costs. What a dim bulb. Geesh...
Missing Senate vote will stick with Rubio.
Rubio rehearsed line over over and again are irritating. He is a sales guy on used car parking lot.
The way he delivers, sounds phony.
I noticed that and you are correct of course. But it is worth noting that these so called "debates" are not quite like those where Cruz dominated when he was in college. This is more of free-for-all and I believe that Cruz took a couple of debates to sort this out. He is up against an obvious conspiracy to limit his questions and speaking time. But he has adjusted quite well as was obvious last night.
Just for reference here is the NPR summary of the time allocated to the participants. As expected CNBC pushed Rubio and Firoina and punished Cruz.
Lindsey Graham: He’s thoroughly entertaining and likable???
To who? Caitlen Jenner?
So the new media candidate for the next few weeks will be Rubio? I guess their run pushing Carson is over.
Exactly...the only reason you don’t see his debate skills too much is that the MSM is too scared to call on him because he will destroy them every time. This is why W Bush singled Cruz out the other week...they know who to fear. I believe all of the establishment jerk-weeds and MSM know deep down who to really fear-—CRUZ!
Cruz “has learned how to debate”?
