House lawmakers in both parties joined forces Wednesday to pass a sweeping budget deal that marks both a parting victory for outgoing Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and a valedictory gift for his likely replacement, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.).
The final vote was 266 to 167, with 79 Republicans joining every Democrat in sealing passage. Ryan was among the supporters.

Doom, doom, doom. It’s over folks, just like it was over under Carter and then like it was over under Clinton. This time is different!
I will vote for Cruz or Trump 2nd. Dont know who else if any after that. Plus im heavy enough to be a troll but too tall ð
Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? There is only one thing to do and you know what I am going to say! Toga party! Can’t wait to see Trump on SNL the saturday!
Enjoy your slumber.
What are these "other doors"?
Interesting response. If i get the chance to reply in detail i will.
In sum, i don’t agree with the “sackcloth and ashes” view that i am somehow collectively responsible for what has happened. Particularly since a lot of what we’re dealing with is a logical result of actions taken well before i was born.
More importantly, even if we agree on root causes, how does this outline a course of extrication? We aren’t going to vote our way out of this mess. Nor is a collective cultural enlightenment likely to happen. So you work with what you got. Which is actually quite a bit.
Here is the message my (R ) Congresswoman posted about why she voted YES for the budget deal. i’m interested in your take on this:
âThe budget agreement approved by the House of Representatives Wednesday ensures that Congress provides funding needed to support our nationâs national defense. It will stabilize the budget process, allowing our military to plan and conduct exercises and operations, procure vital warfighting equipment and pay our service members.
âI strongly support the budget agreement provision that lifts the fiscal cap on defense spending by $25 billion â although this falls short of the $30 billion in the defense authorization bill passed by Congress but vetoed by the President. Because the agreement carries through the next fiscal year, both the Department of Defense and Congress can plan for an orderly budget process into 2017, rather than struggle through never-ending fiscal emergencies that have confronted us recently.
âI am also pleased that the agreement prevents a drastic 50 percent increase in Medicare premiums for more than 15 million senior citizens. The agreement also repeals the employer healthcare mandate and offers relief to businesses forced to navigate the inefficient system created by the current healthcare law.â
Basically, if the Won is for it, it is bad for America!
Indeed. I mean sure it’s possible in some alternate universe our mirror selves could be wrong. In this one however the odds arent likely.
For us to be wrong, the GOP would have to suddenly sprout conservative beliefs, philosophy and then actually govern on it. The odds of that are slightly less than model rocketry landing a man on the moon and returning him safely home.
I will note that already this AN I have read several posters determined to excuse this most recent addition to the height of our statues, one going do far as to agree with Ryan’s desire for amnesty.
I hope somebody will remind me why we were supposed to get behind McSally? I did NOT and WILL NOT!
Oh, same reason as ever. If you don’t vote for the liberal in GOP clothing acting to destroy your country, you hate America and love Obama. Yea, I know. Makes no sense to me either. But look at the people that spout the lesser evil/no matter what crap every election. They function on the level of children so that sort of ‘logic’ is pretty standard fare.
“one going do far as to agree with Ryanâs desire for amnesty.

Post 5 and concluding on 20.
These people never get zotted. If they did, why are there so many here? WE will get zotted before they do.
McSally was endorsed by every local Chamber of Commerce office in Arizona. To top it off, Drunken Boner made a special trip out here to make a speech praising her.
Of course, 10 minutes of internet research would have tipped off the lazy AZ voters, but that was too much to ask for.
Just shows you that even here people crave liberal governance. They must. They keep voting for it.
Actions haZ consequences, not cheeZburgers.
Jim should have zotted that liberal traitor!
Those posts made me ill.
That’s an excellent question and I’ll do my best to answer. First, if you view politics as an end in itself rather than a means to an end, there is no good news here. We’ve been punked by the political class and It isn’t going to get any better and nothing I can say or do is going to change that.
However, if you view politics as merely the means to an end, then this isn’t that bad of news at all. Because if you’re like most Americans, when you’re faced with adversity you figure out a way around it. Frankly, my goal is to live freer, be taxed less, to be left alone, and to be able to worship as I see fit. There are countless ways to achieve that goal. Let me give you a small example. Perhaps raising righteous children is your goal. I would suggest that one day spent volunteering at a Christian youth camp will get you closer to your objective than a lifetime spent in electoral politics. Let’s say your goal is financial security. I would argue that taking Financial Peace University will get you far closer to that objective than a lifetime of showing up at the polls.
So you see, while the electoral door is effectively closed to us, there are so many other doors that are wide open and waiting for us that it’s just plain silly to get all that upset about the kleptocrats and their petty political intrigues.
Very interesting thanks!
The problems I have with the budget deal is that it is for 2 years.
And secondly that it is more or less the same shit they have done year after year with the omnibus budget signoff, however this time they made a deal with the dems...they get what they wanted and we got what we wanted.
If we were in the minority I would be happy...that we at least got something, but we are in the majority.
The deal is too long and too soft, and it increases spending in the wrong areas and has no positive effect other than the military spending which I view as necessary.
I suppose we are at the point where the glass is half full or half empty...
I am more on the empty side.
Our republic has survived for just about the expected lifespan of a typical democracy. The founders gave us a government like no other, but for the last 50 or so years the left has tried to make it just like Europe which is failing.
In the end we will fail but it was not the republic that failed, it was democracy.
Yes, we can fix it, but in my opinion it will take a civil war with the left and their needy gimmee's who have learned that it's easier to do nothing and expect to be fed and housed.
