Paul Ryan’s Gun Control Support Throws Another Obstacle On Path To Speakership
Breitbart ^ | 10/27/15 | AWR Hawkins

Representative Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) 58% (R-WI) 2014 gun control vote could present another obstacle to this path to the Speakership of the House.

It is certainly one more aspect of Ryan’s past that caused Gun Owners of America to warn that a Ryan Speakership would simply be “Boehner on Steroids.”

Ryan’s 2014 gun control vote came amid the emotional outpouring that followed Elliot Rodger’s May 23, 2014, Santa Barbara attack. Although Rodger passed a background check, registered his guns with the state–as is required in California–and only used ammunition magazines of 10 round or less, Ryan voted for Representative Rep. Mike Thompson (D-CA) 16% (D-CA-5th) amendment providing $20 million to expand the amount of information states are putting in the National Instant Criminal Background System (NICS) database. Thompson’s House webpage showed that the amendment was supported by Gabby Giffords’ gun control control PAC Americans for Responsible Solutions, as well as “Every town for Gun Safety, the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, Sandy Hook Promise, Third Way, the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence… [and] States United to Prevent Gun Violence,” among others.

In addition to this, there was an example of Ryan showing an openness to more gun control in the wake of the heinous attack on Sandy Hook Elementary. Just over a month after Adam Lanza stole guns then used them to attack innocents in the gun free zone at Sandy Hook, Ryan told Meet the Press’s David Gregory that Congress needed to look at background checks and “[make] sure there aren’t big loopholes where a person can illegally buy a firearm.”

This may be the time that the GOP starts abandoning gun owners.

In case they wanted to remove ALL doubt that they will disappear as a political party.

Need to block Ryan for several reasons. Anybody that has a Republican Congressman representing his state, call that Reprep now! (I don’t)

Agree 100% and this is what the Republicans in congress call “Leadership”.

Now you know why we are in so much trouble.

Agree they are first betraying the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights.

What is the point in electing Paul RINO if he is loved by the DNC, Pelosi and Obama?

There still are some good Republicans in Washington left but not many.

Primarying republicans has become more important than beating democrats. What little conservative political power exists rests on foundations of sand as long as the GOPers control the party.

Join the pack. The only reason I even care is to stay in it to vote for Trump. Otherwise it will be time to just get ready for CWII. I haven’t left the Republican party it has left me.

Who are they trying to kid? there haven’t been and won’t be any obstacles to Ryan gaining the Speakership. We’re screwed again.

The U.S. system of government is inherently a two party system. The "winner takes all" and the losers get nothing.

If you can't win the majority of Republican voters, then you will never be able to win the majority of all voters.

If you decide to punish the majority of Republican voters by voting independent, you will insure a Democrat victory. This might eventually change the minds of those Republicans who remain, but I think the cost would be ghastly.

We are on track to win over the Republicans, but we must do that before we can win over the nation. Until the squishy middle realizes that the present socialist course is unsustainable, we aren't going to make much progress.

Forget about primarying RINOs and scrounging up conservative challengers who are just going to become the same bought-and-paid for GOPe hacks that they replaced.

Just don't vote for any of these Republican clowns. Let the Dims win the government so we can get this show on the road.

One o the logical reasons that most people don’t revolt at the drop of a hat is that they have something precious they could lose in the process.

In the case of the GOPe, there seems to be precious little to be lost.

I think it is time to drop the RINO acronym. If one reviews recent Congressional leadership, recent Presidential and Vice Presidential nominees, Republican consultants, big money donors, affiliated think tanks, media outlets etc, Ryan et al are the perfect embodiments of the current Republican party. They are CINOs, certainly, but they are Republicans.
I think the party is unsalvageable, but desperately hope I’m wrong.
