Dennis Hastert pleaded guilty Wednesday to lying to the FBI in a hush-money scheme, agreeing to a deal with federal prosecutors that recommends he serve no more than six months in prison and averting a trial in the case.

A judge, however, could go beyond that recommendation and give the former House speaker up to five years behind bars.

Spot on.

He became rich while in Congress. Imagine that. No doubt via lobbyists. He used his *riches* (tax payer funded) to use as hush money for the vile deeds/crimes he was committing.

I have no sympathy for this sicko.

This does seem a little lopsided regardless of what one thinks about Hasert.

If Hillary ends up walking, I cannot think of anything that will increase the publics cynicism

Hastert’s biggest mistake was not being a Democrat.

Sending Hastert to prison is like sending a kid to a candy store.

Yes, I’m not denying Hasterts despicable crimes. But the crime he is going away for is a “crime” WE ALL could go away for.

prosecutors were expected to drop a charge that Hastert violated federal banking laws

The Illinois Republican explained why he lied to the FBI, saying simply, “I didn’t want them to know how I intended to spend the money.”

The judge asked Hastert, “Did you know that what you were doing was wrong?”

He responded, “Yes, sir.”

Hastert and his attorneys negotiated the plea deal in recent weeks, avoiding a trial that could have divulged embarrassing secrets dating back to his days as a high-school wrestling coach.

Going to prison... for HANDLING HIS OWN MONEY.

You know, you're right about that. What Hastert was doing with that money was despicable, but that's a whole other issue.

This guy is going to prison for the "crime" of taking his own money out of the bank.

So, reading between the lines here, Denny was trying to cover up his pedophile past.

One has to wonder: how old were these kids? How many of them were there? Who was blackmailing him, and what evidence did they have against him? Who else knew of this?

Lucky for Denny, the case is now closed.

Wasn’t (at least some of the awful things he did) while he was their high school wrestling coach?

Who knows when it all started, what age groups, etc.

Disgusting, vile excuse of a man.

When will Bill and Hillary’s income get scrutiny so they stand trial? I hope to see that in my lifetime.

We are no longer a free country. We are no longer America.

Imagine you could go back in time, and pose this to George Washington and Thomas Jefferson:

In 2015 an American is arrested, and sentenced to prison, after taking his own lawfully obtained money out of his own bank account. Guess what that man's crime was.

Even if you gave George and Tom 20 guesses each, I doubt if they could come up with the correct answer.

Minister Kent Hovind did nearly 10 years for the same charge minus the pederasty homo charge.

Not so lucky for his victim/victims. Is this the best we can do in terms of picking ‘leaders’? No wonder the country is in such a mess!

How many already knew about this when he was speaker? And we wonder how Democrats keep winning? They don’t have a problem with known pedophiles/rapist as leaders, most of us do, so our ‘leaders’ have to hide it.

PUKE on Washington, DC and all of the crooks, criminals, losers, etc.!

Yes, with Loretta Lynch giving the disgraced Loris Lerner a pass. Lynch is too busy going after cops.

of course Denny will get a job-
1

With the log cabin repugs (really secret Demon rats)

also, who was ever EXTORTING money from Denny-
THAT NAME has not been released-!

Did THEY DECLARE Denny’s cash?- no word

See ...what Denny needed to do is set up a NONprofit-
like the Clintoons- shift money thru CRONIES!!

don’t get down and dirty handling Cash-

Hell if Denny would have joined forces with the clintooons or bushies- he would not be in this trouble!!

Better yet- he should have been doing $$kick back to the president- and Eric the holder- no problems at all Denny-

sarc

George and Tom would counsel conducting another American revolution, I am sure.

George and Tom would likely have strung him up in a tree for being a pedophile.

Well, that's true! But remember what Hastert is going to jail for. It's for taking money out of his own bank account, in a way the all-powerful federal government didn't approve of.
