If she struck the officer she should be arrested for assault on a police officer independent of any charges of excessive force by the officer

drag her after flipping her desk over while she’s sitting in it...the student may be a punk but the security officer is a dumba$$....
If the student in question had been white, would the officer have been fired? Not likely.
She might retain her audience.
Teacher/staff say “alright everybody, since she’s being disruptive and refusing to leave, we’re all going to a different room” ... and given the choice between standing with homie or whitey, most/all stay. Now what?
She’s not playing by your axioms. Making everyone else move is a win. Anyone who stays with her increases that win.
Consequences? WTF does she care about consequences?
Stunningly naïve. You are part of the reason we have the schools we have today.
You can tweak the world off square to make cr@p like this fit. The problem then is that the world is off square, which is where we are now.
What does this teach other students?
Lots of good things. Non-violent civil disobedience is appropriate in some situations. Standing up for your rights is important. Everybody deserves a fair hearing, not just an arbitrary decision based on who's got more force on their side. We live, or certainly should be living in a nation of laws, not "do as I say or else."
It is always good to recall that the founders of our nation refused to listen to the colonial Governor, the British soldiers, and even the King himself.
You and I are actually on the same page. It’s just that there are too many of these onesy-twoesy stories about an abusive cop or a kid suspended for drawing a picture of a gun or being suspended because a butter knife was found in his glove box.
With 100k schools, you are going to have a few crazy principles, teachers, cops and students. Now, when this starts happ3king a LOT, I’ll take a second look.
And I’m done with public schools anyway. I don’t have a lot of respect for parents that send their kids to public school.
Oh no. This was about a battle of wills, a refusal of a sizeable portion of youth to accept the word "no."
This attitude is learned and reinforced at home, that you are not subject to authority and that being told " no" is a sign of disrespect.
This is not the acting out of some suburban teen.
does not work like that.
The whole class has to leave because of her, no.
No witnesses for her to make a story up would have happened, plus she would have said look at me and been the center of attention at the school how she rebelled,
What he should have done was ask her politely to join him out in the hall, ignored her cursing and refusal, ask her again and when she said no again, call for instructions on how to handle her without touching her. Or just told the teacher and administrator to handle it.
exactly
How do you know the student in the video is a "feral youth"? Let me guess, you looked at her skin color.
If she was a young white girl being manhandled for wearing an American flag on her shirt, or because she refused to go against her religious beliefs I doubt you'd call her a "feral youth", or condemn her actions.
No. You really don't understand what I see on a daily basis...and you don't see what's being reported every day. It's not about audience, it's about authority.
“But to drag a minor out like that? poor life choice.”
She’s 18.
he’s a cop. he did the right thing. he subdued an attitudinal negress resisting arrest
Please explain the constitutional right to continue talking on the phone in the middle of class, especially when instructed to stop...and the right of the other +/- 25 students to waste the rest of their day.
Hope he has his retirement made
After that, itll never again be possible for any teacher, anywhere, to get a student to turn off a cell phone.
Just black and minority students will get away with it, if that was a white student he did that to we wouldn’t know about it.
How would the last 50 years have been different if, during the mid-60s, a college administrator faced with sit-ins and trespass stood on his hind legs and declared, "Your @sses are out of here!"
This will multiply and spread. Count on it.
