Basically, it's full of crap. Apparently, they have two issues with FR. One is that a user (a long-time user not a hacker) posted a link to an image that (unknown to him) resides on a site google has registered in their database as a malware site. We've pulled the post and notified google. Have no idea when they'll stop flagging us.
The other is that we have links to aim.org. NSS. Aim is a conservative site. Have no idea how many, but I'm sure we've had hundreds or even thousands of links posted to aim.org. We're not going to pull them.
Why google is apparently randomly flagging unrelated threads on FR I have no idea. Your guess is good as mine.
But it's not just google Chrome. Any browser that relies on google's database is doing this.
If you want to stop these erroneous and obnoxious warning messages immediately, you can set a browser option to ignore such warnings. Your virus protection software will catch any real viruses.
Thank you all very much for notifying me. I've received dozens and dozens of these already. Sorry, cannot answer each one individually.
Thanks Jim for this, and all you do!
I use Adblock Edge with Pale Moon browser and get no warnings neither in freerepublic nor aim.org
Here’s JimRob’s explanation regarding what you emailed me about.
Is GOOGLE monitoring and tracking me everywhere?
Google in act has a tracker on this site "Google Analytics." I use an extension called Ghostery that lets me block all trackers.
FREE REPUBLIC MATTERS
Not having a Chrome problem even with that setting enabled; though, I’m mostly using Opera since ditching the intolerant Mozilla browser.
Jim & John have added Google Analytics to the site for their purposes. Google didn’t add it.
A badware freepathon suggestion: every time you encounter one of these bogus, nuisance pages, donate $10 (or $1 if you get it a lot) to the freepathon.
Wow. This issue appears to have been around a long time though this is the first time I have come across it.

These trackers are put there by the sites themselves. FR inserted Google Analytics tracker for statistics.
I didn’t have any problems yesterday with this on my iPad using safari.
Now this morning, I’m getting a phishing warning from Google.
It’s done on purpose. My work server used US DofD listing of forbidden sites. FR was listed as an anti-Semitic hate group. I bitched and moaned so hard (and being both Jewish and Isararli) they realized it was nonsense.
Pushing political agenda is Google’s goal.
I doubt the warning will ever go away.
I find it interesting that a FR gloBULL warming thread is now consider dangerous by this bunch..
This thread is giving me phishing errors.
They are false alarms. Jim wrote that he already removed the one offending post and now the alarms are triggered by links to aim.org, that it is a legitimate site having their own false alarm for some reason.
I quit using google a while time ago. I use Ixquick. It claims not to record your traffic and, in fact, the targeted ads are much reduced from when I was using Google.

Ok, I got Maxthon but that's only so I can cheat the local newspaper and get more than the 5 articles they try to limit me at. Wish I could find a way to stop that from happening.
;-)
Amen to that!

Yeesh, gonna have nightmares for days.
