Ted Cruz Makes an Argument That Needs To Be Made Over and Over in 2016

Here’s Ted Cruz, speaking Friday:

One more liberal justice and our right to keep and bear arms is taken away from us by an activist court.

What is he talking about? This — from a piece I wrote earlier this month:

[I]f the Supreme Court’s decision in Obergefell v. Hodges teaches us anything, it’s that the age of judicial supremacy means that five justices can amend the Constitution far more efficiently than Congress and the state legislatures. And right now there are clearly four Supreme Court justices who are committed to the absurd view that the operative clause of the Second Amendment — “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed” — doesn’t actually mean “the right of the people” and therefore doesn’t encompass an individual right to own a weapon, even for self-defense.

In other words, we’re one supreme court justice away from a holding that the Second Amendment is essentially a dead letter, protecting the right to bear arms only within the context of militia service. With the presumptive Democratic nominee now speaking openly about gun confiscation, constitutional protections for individual gun ownership are more critical than any time in recent memory. As we saw from the first Democratic debate, Sanders and Clinton will soon be outbidding themselves in their opposition to gun rights, and the next Democratic president will be under intense pressure from the progressive base to deliver on the countless gun control promises they’re likely to make between now and the election. Blue state legislatures are already primed to push gun control as far as they can. One more liberal justice, and we face a brave new world of gun control legislation.

I hope the other GOP candidates are listening to Cruz. His cause needs to be their cause.

OK, Given that Trump and Carson are in the lead according to polls right now....

Has anybody asked them the kind of Judge or justices they will appoint?

Out of the 9 justices of the Supreme Court, have they been asked who best meets their criteria for appointment?

Even if the court goes full libtard and states that a God given right no longer exists, is everybody going to say “aww, gee shucks. You win, here’s my rifle”??? I suppose there may be some who will think they’re being clever and say they lost all their firearms in a boating accident, and those firearms for all purposes pretty much are the same as confiscated, but for many, and hopefully most, there will be a heck of a divide between the court saying that God given right is no more, and the reality of how *they* plan to confiscate all the firearms out there.

Guess they’ll have to outlaw drill, presses, mills, files, taps and aluminum too.

They make that drastic mistake, you can bet I WILL perfect the art of creation...and barter.

Trump thought his sister would make a “phenomenal” SCOTUS Justice.

On the other hand, another thread said that when asked who his favorite Supreme Court Justice was, Trump replied: CLARENCE THOMAS.

I think the man is also prone to pandering.

Better elect a REAL conservative like Cruz, or we end up with a justice like David Souter ( whose eminent domain decision Trump himself praised ).
