Why isn’t Mitt Romney president? Because he thinks like this.
Over at Breitbart was this headline:
MITT ROMNEY: DEMISE OF LEGACY MEDIA EMPOWERING CONSERVATIVE ‘INSURGENTS,’ PREVENTING MORE ‘COLLABORATIVE ACTION’
The story reads, in part, like this:
Failed GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney lamented that the demise of traditional media is empowering Republican “insurgents” and preventing establishment Republicans from compromising more with Democrats.
As the Republican establishment is trying convince Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) to run for House Speaker, Romney told David Axelrod on a recent “The Axe Files” podcast that the “extremes within our respective parties are having a louder and louder voice and demanding more attention” and “immediate action” as opposed to more “collaborative action.”
Romney said this phenomenon flows in part from the “change in the world of media.”
“There was a time when we all got the news with the same facts, if you will,” he said. “We had three networks we watched for the evening news. Most of us got newspapers. Everybody in the middle class got a newspaper, so we got the same facts whether we agreed or not with them.”

Do you realize that what Romney stated that he wanted was an American Pravda, controlled managed news where we are given the facts or lies, as the case may be, that the ruling elites want for us to hear? Isn’t that a radical horror?
Are the Washington democrats slipping mickeys into the drinks of all the republicans?
There are no Republicans, anywhere in DC.
Even though Romney is a Mormon, he shares in the Episcopalian Dream: a world without beliefs, principles, convictions, and the like. Let’s just Reach Across the Aisle and “get things done.” Let’s not have too much abortion, but let’s not be one of those kooks who want to get rid of it. Let’s not have too many illegal aliens, but let’s not be one of those kooks who want to limit illegal aliens. Let’s not have too much socialism, but let’s not be one of those kooks who want to cut off corporate welfare.
His daddy was against the candidacy of Goldwater in 1964 and spoke out against the GOP candidate.

Mitt Romney sounds like he shed a tear that CBS-AP’s scam didn’t sway the 2004 election in John Kerry’s favour.
There would be a slight difference. Some Republicans would support an amoral, liberal president because he had an R next to his name.
There were other options, but liars gotta lie.

It is the age-old, age-old lament of the moderate GOP, and was long before conservative media ever existed. Today its easy to blame Rush or Sean or Mark or Fox or those of us scribbling away here at NewsBusters or elsewhere in the conservative media. But the simple fact of the matter is that all conservative media does is, after decades of a liberal media monopoly, finally shed the spotlight on exactly what the liberal agenda - the liberal “worldview” is really all about. And help lead the fight to defeat it -- not compromise with it.
And the fact that Romney doesn’t get it tells conservatives everything they need to know about why Mitt Romney isn’t President Romney.
