Feds Go to Bat for Somali Muslim Truck Drivers Who Refused to Deliver Beer

Jim Hoft Oct 25th, 2015 1:24 pm 4 Comments

The federal government awarded $240,000 to two Somali Muslim truck drivers who refused to deliver beer to customers.

The Muslims said it was against their religion. forced sharia (Rick Well)

The EEOC took up the case in 2013.

Liberty Unyielding reported:

Last month, it was a Muslim flight attendant who sued her airline after suspending her for refusing to serve booze. This month it’s two Muslim truck drivers, except in this case, handling booze — which is forbidden under Islamic law — was pretty much their entire job description.

The pair, Mahad Abass Mohamed and Abdkiarim Hassan Bulshale, had the backing of the federal government in their religious discrimination lawsuit against their former employer, who rightfully terminated them for refusing to make beer deliveries.

The Washington Examiner notes that the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission won $240,000 in damages to the former drivers, both of Somali heritage, who were fired in 2009.

The EEOC said that Star Transport Inc., a trucking company based in Morton, Ill., violated their religious rights by refusing to accommodate their objections to delivering alcoholic beverages. “EEOC is proud to support the rights of workers to equal treatment in the workplace without having to sacrifice their religious beliefs or practices,” EEOC General Counsel David Lopez announced Thursday. “This is fundamental to the American principles of religious freedom and tolerance.”

Sure she did. They supported her with handcuffs and let her rot in jail for 6 days. What more support did she need?/sarc Christians need to start fighting back. The BIble says not to sue another brother or sister, but, these people are NOT brothers and sisters in Christ.

and the last thing I hope they hear is the sound of a blade making a swoosh sound, the last thing they see is the ground rushing up to meet them as they freefall, and they awaken to the smell of a nice juicy steak only to realize it's their rearend on fire...

As the Blessed Prophet said:

In heaven there is no beer
That's why we drink it here
And when we're all gone from here
Our friends will be drinking all the beer

Well, I guess they cannot deliver pork products in a delivery for a supermarket. No pizza with sausage. No bacon. No pork chops.

I bet all kinds of Somali will be applying for truck driving jobs. If they aren’t hired they can sue for discrimination. They probably will refuse to deliver any food containing pork too.

Okay, I will. Here’s what I think, or here’s what I see.

I see a country in which there are two groups of people who the politically correct crowd, and the liberal crowd (but then I’m being redundant) have elevated or are elevating above the rest of us.

1. Muslims

2. Gays (and transgenders and whatever else they want to add
to that list).

Those are the groups we can’t offend. Those are the groups we can’t discriminate against. Those are the groups that if we do offend them, the government, be it federal or local, has to step in and PUNISH the MEANIES.

The fact that we’ve elevated those two groups almost by default puts Christians in the line of fire. That’s particularly the case when it comes to the gays.

We saw something like this played out, not with the EEOC but with a government body when a Christian, in Colorado I believe, requested a cake be made that was an “anti gay marriage” cake. When the bakery owner refused, he tried to file a religious discrimination complaint with the appropriate body in the state. They told him he didn’t have a case.

My point about the wedding planner was obviously purely hypothetical to begin with. If you missed that, I don’t know what to tell you.

But if you can’t see how Christians are losing their rights and how the groups mentioned are gaining more seemingly by the day, then again I don’t know what to tell you.

Even though she’s only one person on the EEOC, you do realize that one of the more recent appointments was Chai Feldblum as a commissioner on the EEOC, right? Chai Feldblum, who wrote the ENDA bill and who said that sexual liberties trump religious liberties.

So yeah, I don’t think I’d like a Christian’s chances.

That’s actually a good question and would be a good experiment.

They can’t discriminate in hiring someone on the basis of religion. If someone volunteers that they’re not a member of a particular religion, that would be interesting. Actually, that (I’d think) would be okay. Pretty sure it wouldn’t be okay for a company to say “Seeking non Muslims only” though.

Our own government is slipping into Islam. Scripture says in the Last Days, the False Religion will rule everywhere. It’s happening.

I guess I did in the initial post.

I don’t really START a lot of topics here. Most of them that I do, especially recently, I AM the author, as it’s related to my show topic or what not.

So by force of habit, I listed myself as the author. If Jim or someone wants to fix that, it’s fine with me.

Thank you. Indeed they are not.

Ideally, suing anyone should be a last resort. But sometimes it is the only, or at least the best, option.

I think the answer is a job description that read, “Job includes, but is not limited to delivering alcohol and pork products. No discrimination is allowed against Jewish, Christian or other religions or other races who receive these items.”

Well, I think they should have to abide by the principles explained when hired. End of story.

The government has no place in this.

I think a way around this is to state clearly on the employment application that the job entails delivering alcohol. Them there is a question that asks, “Is there any reason you cannot comply with that job requirement? If the answer is YES, the position cannot be performed by you and therefore we cannot offer you the position.”

Another line states clearly that “Any untrue answer on this application may result in disciplinary action against you, up to and including termination.” So, if they lie and say they CAN fulfill the requirements of the position (i.e., deliver alcohol), then later claim their religion prohibits delivering alcohol, that would go a long way to defeating an EEOC charge.

One of the major problems this country has is it created out-of-control agencies such as the EPA and the EEOC that have finagled to themselves pretty much unbridled powers.
