Washington (CNN)The Justice Department notified members of Congress on Friday that it is closing its two-year investigation into whether the IRS improperly targeted tea party and other conservative groups.
There will be no charges against former IRS official Lois Lerner or anyone else at the agency, the Justice Department said in a letter.

Thank the lesser evil voters and their KAPOs here on /fr and elsewhere that DEMANDED we elect the lesser evil Republicans.
They gave us this, Planned Parenthood funding, useless dog and pony show investigations, armed terrorists and a whole lot more.
Somebody elected the republicans that washed their hands of this. Perhaps some of you know one who did.
What is to prevent them from openly rigging the next Federal election now? They can do anything and a corrupt DOJ, FBI, etc will simply sweep it all away and then those who raised their voices will be persecuted and locked up.
Gimme a break.
The good news is when we take over we'll target liberal groups... now we have a precedent. Seems it's ‘no big deal’ to target American citizens for their political beliefs... that leaves liberal groups open the to type of harassment they dealt out... Maybe they'll learn empathy... or fair play or something....
