In strategic terms, lifting the siege would be HUGE...

Russian Attack Helicopters based there can range all over the desert highways of western Syria, including around Raqqa, strangle the ability of ISIS to move freely (as we should have been doing 18 MONTHS AGO!) and cut ISIS off from Turkey, it’s main source of supply and revenue sales.

Twitter chatter from earlier today was saying that the Islamists were trying to get out of Aleppo, after the Syrians and Russians launched big air raids late today.

Retaking the base, and cutting off Aleppo from Raqqa would be a huge moral boost to the Government supporters, as well.

I am hoping that the Russians will just try and wipe Raqaah off the map . Try out all it’s various total destruction weapons , FAE , etc . Just turn the entire valley into rubble and dust . Set an example and a warning . Resist = death . No quarter

That is the attitude we need to have with ISIS. Too bad we have a limp waisted leader.

He cannot hurt the ones he loves...

Think of all those lonely Muslim men looking for a “nice Guy” to pal around with...

Like his Pakistani “friend” who I believe accompanied Your Barkey to the Middle East...

Kinda makes me think about that Cowboy gay movie only with sand, camels and tents...

Ecccch, I need to go and shower now....

Agreed. I think this also ties in to whatever political moves Russia is trying to make. Secure Aleppo, get the ‘moderate’ jihadists out of the way, be able to roam through Syria at will mopping up any resistance and create a ‘fortress Syria’ (at least the western portion)and it puts Assad in the catbird seat. Whether Russia gives Assad the boot is another question. The main thing is that Russia will control the heart of Syria. And they will dictate what happens.

It seems like the pace of operations is intensifying toward the big city of Aleppo, and casualties are mounting.

It sure is something to see Sunni jihadis from all over the world shouting Allahu Akbar and firing US TOW missiles at Iranian vehicles, and then being killed by Russian-paid bombs, all well the US military comfortably sits at home with the honey, safe and sound.

I guess that the Russians aren’t interested in invading the Baltic Countries this week either, as they prepare to wade into urban combat in a city of two million.

Actually, that was in the first part of T.E. Lawrence of Arabia's book, Seven Pillars of Wisdom. They left it out of the movie to not tarnish Lawrence's sterling reputation.

What’s happening in Syria is only a battle, not a war.

GWB in one speech said “you’re either with us or against us”..same principles apply this time.

Too many individual interests involved, even in a battle.

In my view, beyond the battle(s) or even war, the U.S. and Russia should take primary responsibility, as ‘bigger powers’ (intervening & supervising ‘adults’), which they are or should be, facilitating more stability instead of chaos in the M.E. and N. Africa regions.

Not talking about the Baltic countries, but the M.E. and N. Africa. Though these battles (under religious Islamic banners) can easily be brought to other lands, by either of those ‘supervising adults’.

Great to see Russians doing the right thing. Obama is a weak clown.

We wouldn’t have the refugee crisis and all those people wouldn’t have been killed if not for obama’s failures against ISIS.
