I think the majority, vast majority of us on this forum were not for Trump in the beginning. Some of us were down right mad at the man. Many of us were for Cruz and Walker, and we thought that Trump was in it as the spoiler, another Ross Perot, who in my mind was one of the most despicable human beings. He knew what he was doing, and by running he gave us Clinton.

In time, I grew to realize that Trump is more like a young Reagan than not. I learn from the man. I see him uniting people unlike at any time. Not just our side, but blue collars, minority, conservatives even some liberals.

What does he have to do? Simple, run as a third party.

I’ve always been for Cruz as my first choice. I didn’t and don’t mind Trump in the race because he gives the media, Democrats and GOP Establishment a case of apoplexy and leaves the pundits, consultants and pollsters stammering for a sane reason why.

I’ve mainly not had a problem with him because Cruz didn’t and doesn’t have a problem with him. Until such time as he does, I’ll willingly amuse myself with Trump and the powers that be.

My MAIN reason for wanting him to stay in longer is to finish off Jeb Bush the Mexican. I want him so low in the polls the money and powers that be desert him completely. I want him gone, finished and trashed beyond all ability to rise up and steal the nomination.

I think Trump got in it originally to be Trump and have some tabloid type fun, reap some face time and figured that at some point it would fizzle out. That he caught fire I think surprised even him. Which is why it's taken so long for the "serious side" of his campaign to start putting out real policy beyond the shallowness of a Tweet.

I don’t really like Trump. I like Cruz more than the others. That said,Cruz is squishy on immigration. Trump is not. And the main reason for electing Trump is that he has the will and the chutzpah and the ability to do what has to be done. The philosophically and Constitutionally best candidate, Cruz, would be limited in what he can accomplish. Trump is not. Do I believe that Trump WILL do what needs to be done? I don’t know. The chances are at least even that when you elect Napoleon because it requires a Napoleon to regain the Republic, you get a Napoleon. I believe the chance of pulling this nation back up the cliff face is not a cause for much optimism. Most of us think we are headed for the cliff. I think we went off that precipice already, with 2014’s failed elections.

Spot on.

It was when Trump came out with his illegal immigration paper that I switched. Cruz didn’t have a clear stance on it, plus wanted to increase H1Bs without explaining why.

Then with each paper and strong ‘controversial’ statement, Trump surpassed the others. And took on the MSM and GOPe - and won.

What’s not to like?

Oh, and the Cruz supporters here seemed to be getting unhinged, nasty, just name-calling with out any rational things to say - so i didn’t want to be with that lot. But Cruz has been a class act. I’m hoping there’s some collaboration between him and Trump going on

Trump is more like a young Reagan than not.

If Trump becomes President, he will be 8 months older than Reagan was when he took office the first time.
