A Serious Question for the Trump Supporters
Red State ^ | October 21, 2015 | Leon H. Wolf

Posted on 10/21/2015 2:08:43 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

I have a serious question for the Trump supporters, and I hope they will be able to answer it, at least to themselves. It is a question that every supporter of every candidate should be able to answer if they consider themselves a thinking voter instead of a mindless, drooling sports fan. The question is this:

What, hypothetically, would Trump have to do or say to cause you to stop supporting him?

SNIP

............It’s supposed to matter what candidates think, do, and say. There should be a point with literally every candidate where something they have done would push us over the edge to the point that we wouldn’t support them anymore.

SNIP

Call Pam Geller an Obnoxious blowhard who teased poor innocent muslims into attacking her because she wanted attention.

Fair enough. Trump supporters have to live in a different universe. Good luck with that.

You mean Basic English? As though the OED kind whizzes right over your head?

Speaking of which, I went back in time to see what the polls looked like in October 2007.

Woohoo!! President Guiliani!!

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani has held a statistically significant lead in every Gallup national preference poll since February, averaging a 12-point lead over former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson the past three months.

...Then I would have taken the bait and then you could say: Seriously? It would have to get that bad before you would stop supporting him?

That's not my style, or purpose, for interacting on FR.

Why don’t the writers at Redstate ask the same question of the supporters of the other GOP candidates?

Why?

I did. If you understood OED English you would understand it.

Your near daily shtick is very tiresome. First with Walker and now this. You are part of the GOPe problem.

I believe that my expressions on the general matter of the Republican Establishment have been along the lines of “I’d sooner see their house of cards burn to the ground before I vote for a Jeb or a Rubio or another GOPe candidate.” So that’s not quite “bringing down the walls no matter what.”

As I’ve said here countless times, Cruz is my candidate and I am amused by Trump in that I see him as a way to destroy Jeb Bush’s candidacy.

Quite different from, say, seeing my candidate bow out after avid, eager and relentless OCD campaigning for him and then focusing on the one candidate who can be easily blamed instead of having to face the realities of a badly run, overspent campaign that had a few too many flip-flops.

I would mistrust Trump big time, I mean it would be huuuuge, if you and a few others here who live to hate him started supporting him.

Okay, I read the whole story. I get it that Redstate dislikes, nay, hates The Donald. Those folks have lots of company. Trump is not a politician and thus have not thought too much about the various issues that confront politicians everyday. His focus has been as a businessman, so those issues are likely thought of in terms of how they will effect his projects, and not how they effect the country. This offends the wizards of smart at Redstate and other places.

Well now those issues are given a different focus by Mr. Trump and he is willing to suffer the slings and arrows of a campaign in order to showcase his solutions. I give him kudos for that, and reject the naysayers who hate him for things he has said in the past when he DID donate to the Clintons, and did or said things because it would grease the ways for his business. That said, will I vote for him? I will vote for Cruz in the primary, but if it comes down to Trump vs. any of the Democratic field, I will vote for him far easier then the vote I cast for Romney or Bush I.

Now that that's out of the way, I will say that I am enjoying the furrowed brows and increasing panic of those pundits that just don't get it.

“....ask this question to supporters of any other candidates?”

Perhaps if you read his piece you’d have a clearer picture.

Perhaps you can tell us in your own words. You’re the anti-Trump zealot here.

I don’t hate him. I’m just a conservative and won’t support a liberal socialist. Sorry.

Licking the wounds that Walker incurred you mean :-).

Somehow Trump’s presence hasn’t gotten non-Walker opponents out of the race yet. Fiorina, Rubio, Carson, who don’t have huge money.

I agree with you about Obama.

I haven't said he hasn't forwarded any policy. It's that the serious side of his policy that has come out took time. When he initially started and was asked to explain his positions beyond the limitations of Twitter, it appeared it wasn't ready or was being formulated. As you have noted, 3 have now come out.

I do believe he got in as a game. That it took off as it did surprised many people. And I believe including him.

Red State...isn't that the online rag edited by Erick Erickson, who disinvited Donald Trump from a Red State gathering last summer because of his (Trump's) "political incorrectness" and invited Meghan Kelley in his place? He also stated that Trump was "insensitive to women" or something like that.

Well that backfired on him rather badly, didn't it?

Erickson thought he was being clever. He thought that by kicking Trump while he was down and sucking up to Meghan Kelley, he could get himself in the good graces of the GOP establishment and Fox News.

Well he certainly backed the wrong horse...which reminds me of a certain poster here on the Free Republic.

Speaking of political correctness, Erickson himself has been in hot water several times for making the same kind of statements that he "disinvited" Donald Trump over. So not only is Erickson a total dweeb but he's a hypocrite as well.

Donald Trump had this to say after the disinvite:

"Not only is Erick a total loser, he has a history of supporting establishment losers in failed campaigns so it is an honor to be uninvited from his event."
