For three months, weve all heard all kinds of assumptions about Donald Trumps Republican presidential campaign. Hed peaked. His act had worn thin. His lead was simply unsustainable. And yet, the latest polling continues to speak for itself. Consider the results of the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal survey, released last night.
1. Donald Trump: 25% (up four points from September) 2. Ben Carson: 22% (up two points) 3. Marco Rubio: 13% (up two points) 4. Ted Cruz: 9% (up four points) 5. Jeb Bush: 8% (up one point) 6. Carly Fiorina: 7% (down four points)
The remaining candidates are at 3% or lower, including Chris Christie, who has seen his support steadily drop in recent months, falling to just 1% in this poll. Trumps 25% showing, meanwhile, represents the strongest support any GOP candidate has in any NBC/WSJ poll this year.
A new CNN poll offers similar results:
1. Donald Trump: 27% (up three points from September) 2. Ben Carson: 22% (up eight points) 3. Jeb Bush: 8% (down one point) 3. Marco Rubio: 8% (down three points)
The remaining candidates are at 5% or lower. Fiorina, in particular, has seen her standing collapse, dropping from 15% to 4% in the CNN poll just over the course of one month. Regardless, the burning question in Republican circles is starting to shift from When will Trump falter? to What if he doesnt?

Market Consult has Trump at 40%!!!
THE RINOS CAN HOLD THEIR DAMNED NOSE, STAY HOME or vote for SANDERS!!
GO TRUMP ALL THE WAY TO THE OVAL OFFICE!!!
Yes!
After Trump wins election, the GOPe should leave the country. Of course, Europe is out of the question because they are filling up with Muslims, but perhaps African nations will be more receptive to American immigrants.
Ahhh, it seems the scent of revolt is in the air...
I’d love to listen in on the calls from The Cheap Labor Express to the RNC...........
They must be buying Maalox by the truckload
The good doctor is keeping it competitive.
You can tell alot about a guy buy the way he he has run a business empire for decades.
I dont know what you can tell from a surgeon? He’s a good man that helps people and put obama in his place with that speech back when, but being city counselor, or mayor, or governor, or community organizer would have helped :)
i’d pull the lever if it was him, but Trump’s my pick.
“For three months, weve all heard all kinds of assumptions about Donald Trumps Republican presidential campaign. Hed peaked. His act had worn thin. His lead was simply unsustainable.”
Yes MSNBC, that’s all we heard. And few on Free Republic believed it, maybe none. Oh, there are Ted’s supporters who WANTED to believe it but they knew. So MSNBC, does it bother you that thousands of people on FR knew all this mnths before you did? Remember, we’re “insane” and “IDIOTS” and “mouth breathers”. Then why is it we’ve known the story on Trump for months?
How long until the GOPe starts talks to form a 3rd party ticket with Jim Webb?
Trump is a liberal in disguise. He doesn’t fool me at all.
I think it has been so long since the GOP has seen an unapologetic winner with an (R) after his name, they don’t know how to make sense of it. They’re all: Bob Dole, please save us from this winner!!!
Ok.
I am going to say it:
Trump is a RINO.
That means he is a Republican in Name Only.
He is not actually not a Republican.
In fact, I don’t know if there is anyone to whom the term might be better applied.
Trump has spent most of his adult political life as a registered Democrat.
He has contributed to Hillary and the Clinton clan.
He supports higher taxes.
He does not have a serious view of Christian faith and politics.
He is ego centric.
He changes his mind on important issues with a frequency associated with RINOS.
I do understand how his political incorrectness rallies people to his side and I think that makes some sense.
But I strongly prefer Cruz or almost any other clear cut conservative.
I am hoping that people are preferring him in polls simply to anger the pollsters and not because they really think he would enact conservative policies.
No, he’s just not the most conservative candidate. There’s a huge difference.
I am doomed to die in a world of hyperbole. The “unthinkable”used to be a nuclear world war.
Now it’s a business man winning an election and a bunch of politicians getting upset.
Cry then.
At this point, it should be pretty obvious to you that Ted Cruz isn’t likely to win. That being said, you’re going to have to settle for someone that maybe isn’t as pure as you might like. However, it should be said, some of Trump’s policies are pretty conservative.
Trump is likely higher than those liberal media polls. They probably know it. Trump’s percentage is somewhere closer to Morning Consult poll that came out today.
Ah, Trump isn’t a Republican?
Good.
You don’t get that yet, do you?
