The four liberal parties? Only someone who believes Republicans are conservative would believe the Canadian Conservative party is conservative.
For Canada, the Canadian Conservative party is conservative. :)
Why did the conservatives lose so badly?
One h*ll of a lot more conservative than the Republican establishment Party, or what you call the "GOPE".
Election patterns are cyclical, but our friends from the North are better able to answer this question than I am. :)
Because LIVs wanted "change". Sound familiar?
people were pissed at Harper, or so i was told...
i was at the Indianapolis 500 this year with a tour group which including a couple from Calgary...one morning over breakfast we started talking about politics- this couple were real conservatives and told me Calgary- the Canadian equivalent of Texas, had elected a straight out socialist a few months earlier and they were both pissed and concerned...
i’m not sure if it was an election for just Calgary or the entire province but the writing was on the wall..
Because LIVs wanted "change". Sound familiar?
- the evil media joined the libs in creating Harper Derangement Syndrome
- they used the same play book as B. Hussein - change, shovel ready jobs, spend, spend, spend and expand government jobs and debt
- bring in loads of revenue by legalizing the sale of pot and taxing it (so, basically the government getting rich by selling drugs)
- many more younger voters, raised in a socialist school system and listening to socialist media, Hollywood, music industry, etc.
Now we wait for Trudeau to mount his unicorn and ride into power sprinkling fairy dust all around, fixing all of the problems, and singing kumbaya. At least Obama is no longer the biggest buffoon on the world stage. Putin is laughing and Iran is plotting.
Do I sound ticked? lol
Some can be attributed to the all too common habit of discontent that humans have. There are things that people hate changed, like their soft drinks. But in politics all too often people want change just because they like change. It is the nature of the beast. In order to sell a candidate the case must be made that things are not good now.
It is the same principle that often happens with parenting. A permissive parent will raise kids who become strict parents and vice versa. Sometimes it is just the arrogance of thinking “I can do better...”
The bigger government becomes the more this principle will apply. A small limited government is not as affected by it except when the people start realizing they can elect robbers who will take from their neighbors and give to themselves, and poof, big government.
My friend back home was saying “We need leadership, we’ve had no leadership.” Harper’s handling of the economy during the global recession puts lie to that, obviously that was a media narrative that she picked up on. Lots of charges that Harper was acting “too American” as well.
He was certainly more American than Obama! Maybe that’s why I like him lol.
Many years ago I joined Free Dominion. I posted a thread about being happy that there were conservatives in Canada.
One of the posters replied, “We also have electricity and indoor plumbing.”
LOL! :)
One of the posters replied, We also have electricity and indoor plumbing.
Don't let the Libs and the NDP know that or they might take it away from them.
And, as you know, they did take it away from them. :(
Yup.
I had heard that this election was going to be close.
I suppose envious Canucks looked at how the US has fared the last 7 years under the 0bomb and said: I want some of that!
