Rep. Paul Ryan will meet with members of the House Freedom Caucus Tuesday afternoon, the surest sign he is seriously considering a bid for House speaker, according to multiple sources familiar with the gathering. The meeting will take place ahead of a full gathering of the House Republican Conference at 7 p.m.

Which majority? They don’t have a majority of conservatives in either the House or the Senate. America isn’t a majority conservative nation. As leaders they’re herding cats. Each legislator has their major donors to please, plus their voting constituencies and local politicians. It’s not as cut and dry as FReepers make it out to be. Politics is deadly gray.
Sure it is. Republican majority. We can argue about how conservative those people actually are but the platform is one of conservative values and people align with it. I cannot imagine more than a couple percent of voters actually wanted homo marriage, armed terrorists, illegal invasions or any of the hard left positions the GOP caved to Barry on.
On the other hand, maybe thats why they voted Republican because they knew they’d get it.

I don’t know how you stood it there! Surrounded by liberals and all that city noise. But I suppose you like cities? I had to escape California and the liberals there. Conservativism is watered down there so those that think they are conservative really aren’t all that much.

You did nothing wrong - they did by bringing it up! However you answer is your business and I can see needing a job. My few interviews as a teacher went the same way. Not political but the liberal way of teaching - I answered what they wanted to hear.
What can you do? If it was a conversation or situation that would affect my country, that’s different.

I worked night shift all the time.
LOVED the city at 2 3 4 am!! Could go into a bar and play all the GnR I wanted, get buzzed, take a beer in a bag for the road and walk from Rock Plaza to anywhere, really.
Delis open every other block. Just me, cops and cabs during the weeknights. Beautiful tall buildings lit up and quiet.
Had a ticket for free ride home from car company for working late so could call from wherever and they would take me back to Staten Island and peace.
Those were great days...
And the WTC. They were awe inspiring looking up. I worked in the twice. Now we have this needle building sticking in the sky.

Glad you quit that craziness, and that you survived it. But I think it’s not unusual though, for a young healthy male. It’s why you hear of lots of fights in bars - but it’s men 99% of the time.

If they select Ryan, than it is truly over for the conservative movement. The TEA Party and the House Freedom Caucus had the power to oust Boehner and then McCarthy. Why would they agree to another RINO? I seriously don’t get what’s going on. Someone please explain why the conservatives would capitulate now?
