Activists from the Black Lives Matter movement are calling on Florida authorities to charge three officers involved in the fatal shooting of a man walking home with an unloaded air rifle he'd just purchased.
As NBC News reported in May, questions about the shooting were raised by a photograph that showed the man, Jermaine McBean, lying dead on the ground with white earbuds — contradicting police who said he did not have anything in his ears when they shouted at him to drop the rifle.
In addition, a witness to the 2013 shooting, tracked down by a lawyer for McBean's family, told NBC News the computer engineer never took the air rifle off his shoulders and pointed it at police, though two officers claimed in videotaped statements that he did.

Generally I'm supportive of BLM but think they need to broaden their scope to all races.

In the early 1970’s, my buddies and I used to carry .22 rifles, in soft gun cases, on the Miami public busses to and from shooting/hunting. It was no hassle at all. Times have changed. And more people are SCARED of seeing ANY firearms: Hoplophobia.

It’s not the same world that it was when I was a kid. Now the cops assume evil intentions. Now they don’t take chances. They don’t trust citizens because too many feel it’s open season on cops.
There is little trust anywhere in the country. The worst is assumed. Not the country I knew. Tell your kids that it really was different. We had a great country.
Whether or not the shooting was justified, wearing “ear-buds” in one’s ears with music turned up loud enough to prevent one from hearing what is going on around one is pretty stupid - especially when one is carrying a gun.
One should never knowingly do anything to compromise one’s situational awareness.
And We, the People don't trust cops, because it IS open season on citizens. Cops need to clean up their act; they're their own worst enemies. Their own misconduct gives credibility to the racist, communist freaks at "Black Lives Matter".
This guy in Florida. The guy in the Wal-Mart in Ohio. The twelve-year-old in Cleveland. Seems like being a black guy with an air gun is definitely hazardous to your health.
I disagree. They don't trust citizens because they are or taught to see each and every person they encounter as a potential "perp". The whole "open season on cops" thing started only AFTER cops started treating everyone like they are merely criminals who have not yet been caught.
