Ruger announced the company is now selling “state compliant” versions of the AR-556 rifle. The new guns will lack some of the basic features of a common AR-15 rifle. Among the changes to this gun are:

reduced capacity magazine (10-rounds) fixed length of pull stock (it retains an M-4 style look) non-threaded barrel

Oh. Sad that they have to make firearms that comply with infringement in certain states.

Flip side, makes it (A) easier for owners to comply and still get the basic power (cosmetics irrelevant), and (B) makes clear that such laws are stupid as the basic power remains available (cosmetics irrelevant).

I’m all for anything that gets more guns and ammo into the hands of law abiding citizens in EVERY state, include the blue ones.

Compliant? I don’t think so.... because it looks kind of Biblical.

Reminds me of when the city elites banned the game of 9 pin.
The people simply added another pin and called it bowling.

Wonder how many people have been shocked to death by those scarry stocks and flash hiders.
Glad the bayonet lug is gone as there has been an upturn in drive by bayonetings lately!
Everyone knows the first ten rounds are only noisemakers. It is the bottom ten rounds of a magazine that kills you! Always the bottom rounds!

Sarc

Will they be called SCRs (Read: State Compliant Rifles) and still be called assault weapons by the communists/democrats?

What stops someone from inserting a 30 round clip in a compliant rifle?

It makes as much sense as in black & white movie bedroom scenes, either the man or woman had to have one foot on the floor.
Or on `I Love Lucy’ and The Dick Van Dyke’ show—twin beds.
To keep the blue-noses happy.

Same here: this is just a sop to the anti-gun gun, including Hollywood.
It’s just stoopid. Someday we’ll look back and laugh: Who did they think they were fooling?
Themselves.

The main difference between this version and the older versions, is that this one only fires nerf balls.

On the one hand I agree.

This is really an affront to the US Constitution.

On the other hand it is good to see that capitalism and innovation is still at work in the lands of oppressive government.

When introduced to the M-16 in the Sixties, the weapons instructor made it a point that we were looking at something that was NOT a Mattel toy. We learned how to field strip the gun, using a 4 penny nail (couldn’t have live rounds in the classroom.) We then went to the range and qualified with the M-1 carbine, since the .223 ammo was being sent to Nam.

Seems funny to me, that what we had to be convinced was not a toy, is now being called a scary assault rifle.

We had a FFL dealer that would sell SKSs without the bayonet (per law at that time).

But then he said, i’ll probably throw that worthless piece of junk out into the parking lot when you leave.

Next, the goobermint will order that all AR-15’s not be painted black (racsim), white (privilege), pink (homophobe/anit-woman), green (anti-Earth), red (because that’s their color), etc.

New York and California still disallowed, even with the neutering.

I am so glad I live in neither.
