Donald Trump: I would have prevented 9/11
CNN ^ | 10/18/15 | Eric Bradner

Posted on 10/18/2015 8:46:12 AM PDT by jimbo123

Donald Trump says he's not blaming George W. Bush for 9/11, but he claims that if he'd been president, the attacks never would have happened.

In an appearance on "Fox News Sunday," the real estate mogul said that since he's "extremely, extremely tough on immigration" the attackers wouldn't have been in position to commandeer U.S. flights.

"So there's a good chance that those people would not have been in our country," Trump said.

He took another shot at Jeb Bush for claiming that Bush's brother, the 43rd president, kept the nation safe.

"I'm not blaming George Bush," Trump said. "But I don't want Jeb Bush to say, 'My brother kept us safe,' because September 11 was one of the worst days in the history of this country."

Those factcheck sites are a joke. So what if they didn’t overstay STUDENT visas. The very article you site says they DID overstay OTHER visas.

A sane immigration policy would have prevented 9/11. The FBI taking a report from a flight instructor about muslims who wanted flying lessons without learning to land might have been useful too.

Instead, none of that is changed (as is evidenced by the reports from Russia to the US govt about the Boston bomber where nothing was done) and those of us who are NOT threats are manhandled at airports, have our phones monitored, have our bank transactions scrutinized, and pretty much any invasion of privacy you can think of.

Trump is playing Sheldon Cooper’s 3D chess while everyone else is struggling to learn Chutes and Ladders. Moving the conversation to why a sane immigration policy is ESSENTIAL to the security of the nation not only underscores how the Uniparty isn’t serving the needs of the country, but also shows why it is ESSENTIAL to elect Trump above any of the others.

IIRC a few of them entered the country legally but their visas had expired and they were in the country illegally on 9-11. Apparently we do not go after visa overstays. I also remember that some of the others had lied on their visa applications but since we don’t check anything, they got their visas anyways. Aggressively enforcing our immigration laws may not have stopped the attacks altogether but I think it would have certainly hurt the terrorist’s plans.

Mister Trump. You, sir, are a true Whacko.

My perspective on this is that once again Trump is defining the argument and sucking up most of the media time.

Whether one likes Trump, what he says or doesn't say, one, based upon the way the media pays attention to him, has to admit he knows how to play the media and make the arguments go in the direction he wants it to.

The problem isn’t Arabs. The problem is Muslims. The Boston Marathon bombers weren’t Arabs, but they sure as hell were Muslims, “refugees” to boot.

I agree that the problem is Muslims. But leaving aside home-grown terrorists like McVeigh, Arabs have killed 99% of American terror victims.

Trump is correct since the US ignored the intelligence that they had on these terrorists. He would have gotten them deported on national security grounds.

Bush did nothing to stop illegal immigration! Told us Islam is religion of peace! Which is a horrific lie! Bush did care for troops, but he was accomplishing New World Order goals.

Bush’s attack on Iraq gave Obama/Hillary license to overthrow leaders in Egypt, Libya an attempt Syria.

Truth is the Saudis were behind 9/11 attack, yet we attack Iraq? Didn’t make sense to me at the time. Cost US a great deal in lives, injuries and taxpayer dollars.

I stand with Trump.

Arab Muslims in particular. We aren't being attacked by Copts or even Palestinian Christians. And a large percentage of Al Qaeda are Pakistani, an ethnic group which has done terrible things to native children in England.

With strong measures in place such as no welfare for illegals, E-verify, denying birth certificates to anchor babies, etc., a lot of these people would self deport for economic reasons very quickly (plus building the fence) therefore freeing up the beefed-up INS, FBI, Border Patrol, etc, to focus on the potential terrorists. While it might take some time to find them all, they would be hiding and on the run, not likely to be attempting much terrorism. We are a big and still rich country with all the people and tools that we need to do something about this quickly, and the resources to acquire more of whatever is needed to do the job. The only reason we have this problem is because of the refusal of people in charge to do something about, because they want this. Donald Trump has said this is his #1 priority, and from the first day of his administration he will put the forces in motion to fix this. With this kind of determination and enough manpower it will not take long at all.

He also called citizen volunteers to watch the border “vigilantes” and urged them to stay away to allow the reconquista to occur unabated.

Agreed. The student body president is next in line.

"No. In fact Trump said that he wants to legalize students with visas who graduate."

I believe I have corrected you on this before.

Trump said no such thing.

He said he would like for "top of the class" graduates to stay here if they could benefit our country.

Apparently we do not go after visa overstays.

They are arrested and deported if discovered at immigration checkpoints (airports, Amtrak trains, Greyhound buses). Without bounties* (say $1000 a head) for turning in visa overstayers or border crossers, it's hard to see how la migra is going to apprehend them. Think about how many millions of dollars it takes to find wanted criminals. Multiply that by a million, and we are looking at expenses dwarfing Obamacare.

* To avoid the immigration equivalent of SWATting, we could require the licensing of bounty hunters and a point system that suspends their privileges for few months once they hit the threshold for too many false arrests.

Not al Qaeda. The Taliban. Not Pakistani. Pashtuns, who straddle the border and are just under 50% of the Afghan population, but one of whom tends to rule Afghanistan.
