Donald Trump says he doesn’t flat out blame former president George W. Bush that the Sept. 11 terror attacks happened on his watch. But he can think of three reasons why one could hold Bush responsible.
And, he might add, they are three things a President Trump would do very differently.
“You always have to look to the person at the top,” Trump said Saturday in a telephone interview. “Do I blame George Bush? I only say that he was the president at the time, and you know, you could say the buck stops here.”
So why might one consider Bush responsible?
No. 1: Bush’s immigration policy. “We had very weak immigration laws,” Trump said, adding that perhaps if Bush had had a Trump-style immigration policy, replete with “the strong laws that I’m wanting, these terrorists wouldn’t have been in the country.”

“I don’t blame anybody,” Trump continued, after listing those points. “But it’s possible,” he continued, that had the administration had stronger policy on those points, “perhaps something could have been done that was obviously better than the worst attack ever perpetrated on the United States.”
When I was in Toastmasters and a meeting had gone badly, one of the older gentlemen stood up and simply said, “We can do better than this.”
Some in the club were offended by that, I heard it has a challenge to do better.
So, to paraphrase Trump and I wish he would say it repeatedly:
WE CAN DO BETTER THAN THIS............................
Only people responsible for 9/11 attacks were/are the perps themselves.

You are quite right. My understanding is a President coming in to office has control over 3500 positions? Maybe 3K? Anyway, if/when we get a Republican in office again, the first thing he needs to do is have a team ready to take the field on day one! Kick everyone of these communists/muslims/rejects right the hell out of their offices! Leave no one behind. ALL of ‘em!

At first, I thought it was kind of a crappy thing to say. But think about it. This gives moderate dems permission to be able to vote for him, in other words, hey,he’s sort of like me. Bush’s fault blah, blah.
Believe me, I never expected to be rooting for this guy. I still pray often that Ted Cruz makes it, at least someday. Trump may not be Mr. Right, but he appears to be Mr. Right Now.
I agree with you. I also believe Trump will do that. He said he plans on firing a lot at the EPA. He has quite a rats nest to be cleaned out. I heard Mark Levin saying Obama has been filling civil servant jobs with leftists and those jobs are for life. Not sure what can be done about that.

wanted to keep K street happy too.
A CEO is blamed for any disaster that occurs under their watch so should Bush.
True. Yeb tried to ride W’s coattails by saying “he kept us safe.” Well, yes. After 9/11. I think W did as much as any president could do, just like FDR did a great job AFTER Pearl Harbor. Neither man is to blame for the disaster itself. But it’s a truism that both were in office when disaster struck and “the buck stops here.”
the real responsibility for 9/11 was President William Jefferson Clinton and Jaime Gorelick.

Bush let Chuck Shummer take over the Justice Dept. and then his so called Brian Karl La Raza Rive tried to ram thru amnesty after the 9-11 disaster for his fat cat Cheap Labor donors pals .

He has basically taken off the table one of the main reasons that some might support Jebbie - that he is the brother of the guy who "kept us safe" after 9/11.
Trump does make some good points. Of course GWB is not directly responsible for 9/11 but it's clear that his administration had opportunities to keep such an attack from happening. Why were those terrorists even allowed into this country? Why wasn't CIA, FBI and NSA sharing information on potential terrorist acts? Why was George Tenet's specific warning disregarded?
Other politicians would rather walk on eggshells and not go there, but not Trump.
Of course, should Trump get into the presidency, he'll be held accountable for whatever happens on his watch. Trust me on this. The media will not allow him to blame anything on Obama even though they allowed Obama to blame pretty much everything that happened on his watch on GWB. This would be the case whether Trump mentions 9/11 or not.
I hate to say this, but if those radicals had to come in with propped screenings instead of to open arms this probably would not have happened.
No communications between departments like the CIA and the FBI was also insane. One group had information by a flight school about the guys who flew these planes wanting in air training ONLY.

The WMD is one thing I know for a fact was in Iraq no matter what. There is a book on Amazon by General Sada (Iraq) called “Saddam’s Secrets” in which he talks about the WMD being skirted out of the country to Syria.
This is true, had Clinton taken Laden none of 9/11 on would have happened.
He also had Loral fix broken Rockets and Missile Guidance Systems for China to now be able to nuke the world, and I don’t know why Clinton did that.
