Nearly a third of the innovative health insurance plans created under the Affordable Care Act will be out of business at the end of 2015, following announcements Friday that plans in Oregon and Colorado are folding.

In just the past week, four co-ops, as the nonprofit plans are known, have decided or been ordered to shut down. Their demise means that eight of the 23 co-ops in existence a year ago will be unavailable to consumers shopping for 2016 coverage through insurance marketplaces created under the ACA

Obama’s legacy: “Destruction, death, chaos, fear.” Satan is at work in that creature.

As the Affordable Care Act continues to fall apart, I guess the government will have to step in with a one payer system to save the day. Guessing this was the plan all along.

Colorado HealthOP says it had 82,785 members as of Sept. 15. Of those, 79,877 held individual policies and another 2,908 are covered under small group policies.

It's already in place. See tag line.

RomneyCARE, ObamaCARE, GOPcare, socialized Medicine,
first imposed by the GOP, then imposed by the GOP,
then kept imposed by the EXEMPT GOP even after
they PROMISED, swore to remove it.

The EXEMPT GOP should rot in Hell for their abdication
of the US Constitution for self-gain and their
love of treason, al Qaeda and ISIS.

Well that’s good news.

But what I really want is for the major insurance companies that backed and lobbied for this fascist (technically, in economic terms) legislation be completely destroyed.

Folks, stop using the term “Crony Capitalism.” If there is cronyism involved, it is either socialism or fascism. Capitalism requires independent competition, voluntary contracts and exchanges, a stable monetary unit upon which to conduct business, and NOT COLLUDING WITH THE GOVERNMENT TO DESTROY COMPETITION AND CREATE A MONOPOLY — which is the very definition of economic fascism.

I don’t know about “destroyed”, but some small pain is being felt by some insurers .... totally inadequate consolation to the many that are being majorly hurt by ObamaDEATHcare.

http://money.cnn.com/2015/10/02/news/economy/obamacare-insurers/index.html

Insurers requested $2.87 billion in so-called “risk corridors” payments for 2014, but will only receive $362 million, or 12.6%, said the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, which oversees Obamacare.

“Insurers underestimated the riskiness of their customer base and set their premiums too low,” said Tim Jost, a health law professor at Washington and Lee University School of Law.

The shortfall could put a financial strain on some insurers, especially some smaller ones who were counting on the funds. Some firms have reported losses in their Obamacare line of business, while four health insurance cooperatives are shutting down because of financial pressures.

Obamacare insurers have already set their premiums for 2016 and can’t adjust them now. The shortfall in risk corridor payments could prompt insurers to raise premiums in future years or exit the program.

From the article:

“the agency recognizes that those lower-than-expected payments “may have raised additional solvency concerns.”

ROFL

Just wait to ALL the fed payments expire. Then the states are on the hook!

Woo Hoo! Pitchforks ready?
