With the latest state polls again making fools of the pundits who claimed Donald Trump’s popularity had flattened or was diminishing, the latest general election poll out of the swing state of Pennsylvania shows that Trump has a better chance of taking that state than Establishment favorites Jeb Bush and John Kasich.
Currently, Trump beats Hillary 45% to 43%.
Jeb Bush loses to Hillary by -5 (40-45), Kasich loses -2, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) loses -6, Santorum and Huckabee lose by a whopping -8 and -9, respectively.
Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) beats Hillary by +3 (45-42), Chris Christie is up +4 (45-41), and Fiorina is up +1 (43-42).
The last argument the GOP Establishment has against Trump is that he cannot win the general election. Recent polls like this one are killing that argument, especially when you have Trump doing better than Jeb and Kasichin a pick-up state like Pennsylvania that hasn’t voted for a Republican president since 1988.
A Fox News poll released Tuesday showed Trump beating Hillary nationally by +5, 45-40.
In the Pennsylvania Republican primary Trump and Carson are statistically tied. Trump is +1 with 24%, while Carson sits at 23%. Everyone else is in single digits.

Is Jeb standing on his tippy-toes there?
Knowing Trump, he already has the strategic districts calculated and pumped.
Interesting stuff. But seriously should we waste our time trying to win PA? Every election its the same old tease about the keystone state, and it goes solid blue every damn time.
Winning PA means winning the election.
But.......does he know how many cemetery votes he will need in the large cities?
Yet another of the myriad of good reasons to STAY OUT DA BUSHES.
I’ve been wondering how Trump is going to handle that. He doesn’t strike me as one who will let that kind of cheating pass and I would bet my bottom dollar he would make mince meat (legally) out of anyone trying to cover it up. It will be interesting to watch and see.
I feel like Hillary is running for Hillary — first woman president and that sort of stuff. Most everything about her campaign so far is about her.
Trump is running for people like me — Make America Great Again.
Alert the Free Republic EMT’s and Mental Health gurus to be on standby to treat FR’s victims of Severe Trump Derangement Syndrome.
In Pennsylvania, we have to have more than a 10% lead. Philthadelphia generates that much just in fraud. This can not be another “hold your nose and vote” election. That is why you are seeing the numbers you are seeing.
I am more scared of Biden running. He is such the Scranton native, ya know. An’ that means he’s a good hard workin’ boy like Casey. People hear those names and blindly vote for them.
Not only that, but for the last 20 years almost all pre-general campaign polling has Democrats up by 5-10%, and the number slowly drops as the election nears. If Trump is beating Clinton in PA, that means either Clinton is weak, Trump is strong, or both.
Good point. The cemetery vote doesn’t show up in the polls, because they don’t answer their phones. That doesn’t stop them from actually voting.
Considering Trump already employs an army of lawyers, I have no doubt he has added a few who specialise in election law.
Got popcorn?
Trump has big appeal among blue collar disaffected voters and there are a lot of those in PA. If Trump takes the nomination I think he will provide the biggest victory the GOP has seen since Reagan because he isn’t just appealing to a narrow swatch of corporatist Republicrats and loyalist GOP who don’t see any options but the GOP. Trump is moving the GOP to the place it needs to be to totally destroy the Democrats. Sure he isn’t as conservative as some but where it counts I think he will be fine and if he does nothing more than stop the influx of neosocialist third worlders and nails down America-centric trade deals this country will be better for it.
Trump and Carson both have done what no other candidates have managed to do. They have broken the back of the establishment. Right now Jeb Bush has no path to victory for the nomination. His fundraising is evaporating and the poll internals show he couldn’t win in a head to head matchup against Trump or Carson. The GOP-E have one path left outside of simply accepting Trump or Carson and that is through Rubio but even that avenue is quickly closing down as Rubio’s fundraising is drying up. That would leave Cruz as the only viable insider which is ironic as hell though I honestly think Cruz winning the nomination is also a long shot and I support him as my first choice.
The only way that Trump is dethroned is if he doesn’t perform well in Iowa and New Hampshire, Nevada, and South Caroline. Iowa really is the only contest I think at this point he is at any risk of losing. If Trump and Carson win all those early states then that brings us to Super Tuesday which is the day of reckoning for Bush, Rubio, Cruz, and Kasich. They have to win their home states and the only one that is even close is Cruz. If Cruz can pull an upset in Texas and pull off a few respectable finishes other places he can make the argument to continue. The other guys are currently looking like lost causes in their home states. Trump will take Florida and Ohio if Jeb, Rubio and Kasich stay in till Super Tuesday. The GOP-E needs to get 2 of the three to drop out if they want to have any chance of slowing the Trump train.
Unfortunately, Philadelphia, Harrisburg, Pittsburg wiped the rest of the Common Wealth out...
So be careful, unless and until you have these three big democrat cities sewn up, you will lose...
I know Trump knows this, and if the Unions back Trump, its going to be hard...but I know he is brilliant and I really don't have any worries about it...
Go Trump Go!!!
I agree. If they can turn Pennsylvania, then everything changes.

Yep, if Biden is in, everything changes. However, the upside is he and Hillary may cause bitter divisions in the party, may even beat each other up so much the winner is crowned but crippled. That didn’t happen in 08 because the imagination of the left was so stirred by obama they basically kissed and made up. Does either Hillary or Biden inspire?
