WASHINGTON (CNN) —Donald Trump implied Friday that former President George W. Bush could share some blame for the September 11, 2001, attack on the World Trade Center, since he was in office at the time.
"When you talk about George Bush, I mean, say what you want, the World Trade Center came down during his time," Trump said Friday morning on Bloomberg TV.
Bloomberg anchor Stephanie Ruhle interjected, "Hold on, you can't blame George Bush for that," before Trump stood by his comments.
"He was president, OK? ... Blame him, or don't blame him, but he was president. The World Trade Center came down during his reign," Trump said.
The comments came in response to a question from Ruhle about Trump's "soft hand." She said the world had seen his strong side, but Bush after 9/11 and President Barack Obama after the Sandy Hook massacre both had to stand in front of America and show a different side of them.

Trump seems to refuse to acknowledge his friend Bill Clinton had chances to have bin Laden handed over to him and he refused.
The 9-11 plot began before Bush was in office. The Clinton administration issued most or or all of the entry visas used by the Muslim terrorists.
That said, Bush Junior’s response to 9-11 was awful.
Instead of stopping Islamic immigration to our homeland, he increased it.
And while pursuing a peripheral adventure in Iraq he lets his Saudi buddies off the hook for their key role in global terrorism, including 9-11.
Let’s not forget Trump’s friend Bill Clinton refused to interact with the Bush transition team for more than a month because Al Gore contested the election until mid-December 2000.

What counts is how the man in the Oval Office faced the crisis. This country has a history of RE-ACTING to events and challenges. And re-act we do.

Bush is a fraud. Those folks running around claiming he kept us safe are FOS. Trump is right, 911 happened on his watch, while millions of Mexicans and people from all over the planet were so emboldened by Bush as they defecated on our laws and rules. During war time and it continues with Obama to this day.
Well..I guess we could blame it all on Clinton and his policies...but he’s right...Bush was president. But it’s smart politically. He’s picking up bush haters and there were a ton of them.
And another fact is, anyone is free to criticize Bush about anything because he never, ever, ever, ever defends (or defended) himself. It was part of the fiasco that was his presidency. (Not a National Disaster like Muslim One is, but a fiasco that in fact led to the usurpation of the United States of America by Muslim One.)
I don't see anything wrong with what he says, he's not necessarily blaming him, but it is true that yes, it did happen on his watch, and he was 9 months into his Presidency. You can't say he is entirely blameless, although I believe that yes, Clinton deserves most of the blame.
Maybe The Donald should have a chat with Sandy Burger as to why he felt it was so necessary to pilfer those documents from the National Archives during the 9/11 investigation. Will he conclude Berger was acting on behalf of Bush?
Trump is just trying to pick up Democrat votes. He needs to finish Jeb already. Name and deed association can do that for him with regard to Jebbers with any right leaning Democrats. This strategy is no different than Amnesty Rinos pandering to get Democrat votes. Everyone needs to calm the F down. Otherwise if Trump is so distasteful anyone who can’t stomach him can always for for Hillary Rodham Clinton Abedin.

By the way, I don’t blame W at all for 9/11. I do blame him heavily for being a reconquista supporter, and for vastly overestimating Muslim’s propensity to support democracy.
It's was Bush who should have never into Iraq. It was total BS.
911 occurred on Bush's watch. Tens of millions entered our country illegally during Bush's watch, during war time while he aided and abetted them, just like his brother is doing now. He does not get a pass on his past.

Trump said McCain wasn’t a hero (or close to that) and, along with his followup utterances, seems to have benefitted from the scrap.
Mr. T is certainly correct in that statement. However, why wasn’t the fact the George W. had no ability to begin his administration in a normal fashion mentioned. IIRC, the 2000 election was held as undetermined until the Supreme Court came in with their decision. Bush’s term did not begin until later than the average winning bear. His first term immediately leading from behind and attempting to play catch up. Surely, these dates are stated accurately and remembered correctly by this poster. It’s early and sleep was fleeting last night so the mind may not be too sharp. If the entire assertion is incorrect please excuse and ignore.
I would add that also in the wake of 9/11, W did nothing to secure our southern border despite evidence that Muslims were entering via Texas, AZ, and NM. Also, no drilling in ANWAR kept us dependent on the Muslim cabal for energy, thereby indirectly funding their terrorist activities.
I’m not a rocket scientist, nor a brain surgeon, but to me, those are two simple actions that could’ve aided in cutting the head off the terror beast so to speak. But all we got was talk talk talk and very little action. Big surprise.
