Bump.
Not at all. Thank you. Whatever mistakes George Bush may have made, I'll never be persuaded that he was anything but a good, decent, and even courageous man. He certainly didn't deserve the lies told about him by Rather, Mapes, and many others in the collaborationist press.
The whole episode was enormously exciting and great fun while it was unfolding, during what I often fear lately were the best days of FRee Republic. Seldom are we presented with a such a golden opportunity to expose the treachery of our adversaries. Sometimes, even when we are, it's impossible to convince the low information voters of what we've shown [Clinton's Impeachment, the "Red Scare", ... and so many other historical installments come to mind.] Occasionally, we succeed at both, as was true in this particular case.
You should be enormously proud of the part you played in the unraveling of the tapestry of deceit they tried to weave, and in the consequences they had to face as a result.
Unfortunately, as those of us who study history or who have lived to a certain age know very well, the Left is relentlessly mendacious and their war against the truth never ends. So from time to time you'll be called upon to reiterate that Mary Mapes and Dan Rather were proven to be liars, and no revision of history can ever change that fact.
Thanks for your latest contribution to the saga. The piece is interesting, well-written, and above all, it is the truth.
I got an anonymous call from a voice which sounded an awful lot like Bill Burkett’s to meet a certain “Lucy Ramirez” at the old oak tree by the crossroads at midnight. She herself never showed, but this document, along with a birth certificate personally signed by the Kenyan Minister of Health and what is purported to be a “DNA sample,” were left in a small tin jewelry box under the tree.
It stars Robert Redford as Dan Rather and the lovely Cate Blanchett as Mary Mapes, which is a clue that not everything in the movie is true.
Ouch.
And finally, the coup de grace:
There is no pravda in "Truth."
Counter-propaganda at its finest....
Perino the meano?
Thanks for the ping to this excellent counter-propagana.
Hollywood whiffed again over the Halloween weekend as four new movies went largely ignored in favor of trick-or-treating. The "60 Minutes II" scandal drama "Truth," with Cate Blanchett and Robert Redford, expanding nationwide, and the horror comedy "Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse" added to a plague of empty theaters.
-----
Sony Pictures Classics "Truth," which recounts CBS' reporting on President George W. Bush's military service, expanded to 1,120 theaters, but couldn't even crack $1 million. It earned just $901,000.
Congratulations on having your FR post quoted in the movie, but of course without proper citation of either yourself or FR.
As for the rest of the movie, on balance the popcorn was good.
Oops, sorry! I intended to reply to post #15.
just saw this on TV last night. According to the movie, the inability of typewriters back then to have produced the documents was incorrect.
It did it’s best to make her and rather heroes that were treated unfairly by the other networks reporters. Bunch of crap!
I noticed the trailer for the movie about Barry Seal is also going to be a white wash. Wonder what the propaganda spin is going to be for running drugs out of Arkansas.
