The FOX national poll also asked the first/second choice question, but did not provide direct tabs of the share of Trump backers who chose Cruz, et al, as their second choice. It did, however, do the next best thing: it gave the entire GOP race standings if Trump were out. Trump polled 26 percent in the overall standings and Cruz polled 8 percent. Without Trump, Cruz rose to 11 percent, a three point gain. Three divided by 26 is about 11 1/2 percent, nearly identical to the thirteen percent from the other two polls.
This might seem to be too low given that Cruz is actively courting Trump and his backers. But the PPP poll suggests that effort is not yet paying off. Cruzs name ID among Trump backers is only 47 percent positive, 37 percent negative. He still has a lot of selling to do before Trumpets think Ted Cruz when their thoughts stray from His Hairness.
Now, there are plenty of scenarios in which I can imagine Cruz will do well with current Trump supporters. If Cruz breaks through in Iowa and Bush recovers to win New Hampshire, for example, he could pick up loads of Trump supporters in an ensuing one-on-one. Or if Ben Carson, who currently is the Trump backers favorite second choice, fades, perhaps the junior Senator from Texas will gain those voters love.

What if Carson is gone from the field at some point....
I think the MSM is working overtime to split the votes so that no Republican president will get elected. One thing is obvious; Cruz is being skewered by the MSM while the prop up Trump, Carson, Sanders, and Hillary. They want to make sure that no statesman is elected IMO
TRUMP/CRUZ in 2016
That is the ticket I would most like to see. I will not vote for a Trump/ rubio, bush, carson or any but Cruz ticket.
I am convinced that the GOP will do to Donald what the democrat did to Kennedy if there is a gop insider as VP.
Me either. Cruz is certainly my second choice.
Yeah...who do those voters go to? I think they go to Trump.
I agree...Polls make you pick 3. After No. 1, the other two are votes to fill in the blanks. Carson realistically belongs at about 3%.
Good point.
I hardly ever see Cruz on MSM interviews anymore. What’s going on with that???
Like what? Their radical, left wing views? Their ties to domestic terrorists?
Dittos.
Cruz's anti establishment shtick is smoke and mirrors, he is actually "establishment" as hell. The MSM is so dumb they fall for it perpetuating this myth.
>>TRUMP/CRUZ in 2016<<
I could definitely get behind that because that is a winning combo. Bush/Rubio or some other GOPe selection will mean that another communist, gun grabbing democrat will be president.
Well yes, but my point was this.....at that point, Cruz is probably almost unanimously second choice.
That's the same thing as saying Rosie O'Donnell is the same as Kate Upton...
The similarities are amazing.../ S
Do you happen to have a link easily available for that 18% never vote for number in a Fox poll. I have looked and looked and can’t seem to find it. It would come in most handy in a few arguments I am having with some RINOs.
Thanks.
I think the same way you do. If I’m forced, I’ll vote for Trump—but I’m much more enthused by Sen. Cruz—the closest thing we have seen to Ronald Reagan in a very long time.
Just a hunch, but I really don’t think Carson is going to be in this race after the first couple of primaries. Right now he is in Cruz’s lane, but that could change very quickly after more debates and primaries.
Oh my...
THAT ALONE has cost him trust among tens of millions of American citizens. The H1B and similar visa programs for foreign workers are total frauds, using US taxpayer money against US citizens in a soft genocide.
Really? i don’t know. Carson has and is raising a lot of money.
