Jeb Bush: Early Intervention For Mental Illness Key To Ending Gun Violence [Incl. Crazed Veterans]

"And people that live in isolation, they go on the internet, they live their lives there, they get deeply disturbed, and then they get worse, and they commit these atrocious acts — there should be some intervention earlier."

“And people that live in isolation, they go on the internet, they live their lives there, they get deeply disturbed, and then they get worse, and they commit these atrocious acts — there should be some intervention earlier.”

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush says the way to address mass shootings in the United States involves early intervention for people with mental health issues.

“We can lessen it,” Bush told Iowa WHOTV’s The Insiders in an interview that aired this weekend.

“And we need to look at: What are the common denominators of these very public mass murders where people then commit suicide? And I think the one common denominator that’s pretty clear is, there’s a huge mental health challenge in our country,” continued Bush.

The Republican presidential candidate singled out those who live in isolation on the Internet as one area where people can get deeply disturbed.

“And people that live in isolation, they go on the internet, they live their lives there, they get deeply disturbed, and then they get worse, and they commit these atrocious acts — there should be some intervention earlier. If people have deep mental health challenges, they shouldn’t have access to purchase guns,” said Bush.

“I don’t know the facts about the case in Oregon, how this young man got his guns, but he clearly had mental health challenges. And the capturing system for mental health in this country is not as wide as it needs to be. And so I think states ought to look at this, to determine how you can protect privacy rights for people, but make sure that we get adequate information, so that people don’t fall through the cracks.”

Bush noted the perpetrator of the mass shooting at Umpqua Community College in Oregon had served briefly in the military before being discharged. The Wall Street Journal reported last week the shooter was discharged one month after a suicide attempt.

“Had there been intervention in this guy’s case — he was in the military, he was, I think he got, he was discharged dishonorably, I believe, I don’t know what the exact circumstance, but he left within months of his enlisting — there should be some way to identify these things,” said Bush.

“And we’re living in a world now where people can basically live their own lives, they can create their own realities through the Internet, and the despair that builds up is just tragic.”

Bush said funding of mental organizations across the country would be key.

“I think there is a role. There’s a clear role. And we – it’s hard to diagnose; it is a challenge – when I was governor, we expanded mental health services, but it was always a challenge. And the federal government is a partner in this. Medicaid is not the place to deal with this challenge; it’s the direct funding of mental health community organizations across the country.”

Harper-Mercer was reportedly discharged from basic training after trying to commit suicide. That's one of the ways unfit civilians are weeded out of our military forces. And the more potentially dangerous or physically difficult the military specialty, the more difficult the basic training for weeding them out.

Anyway, in essence, Bush said to pump up the socialism for the mental health racket (big spending), and make it illegal for the typically crazy Internet users and veterans to possess weapons. What we're seeing, is that the candidates continuing to campaign for the presidency are crazy, and that's the situation preferred by the political mob.

Another proof, if anyone needs it, that the sociopaths who want to be president are manifestly unqualified for the job...

Tell me again why these poor people aren't heavily sedated?

“early intervention”
The gun grabbers have so many euphemisms for confiscation, like Yeb and his many ways of describing amnesty: reform, a path, a hand up blah blah blah.
GTH YEb.

Out of a population of around 330 million, maybe a handful of mentally deficient people a year commit Mass Murder, where 4 or more die, excluding the perp.

I don’t know how many in the US are adjudicated mentally deficient but, statistically that is an infinitesimal number of mass murders.

Now consider another group, young black males and their violent crime rates. No comparison, they are much more statistically violent than nut jobs, but nobody cares because they are mostly killing other blacks whose lives really don’t matter.

This is so sad. How can a candidate for the nomination( I guess he is still in it) be so ignorant of the constitution and due process rights as to advocate that because some on live alone they should be disarmed!! This is a very bad case of stupid. I expect Trump to be on this like white on rice. Did you know that “white hater” black man mercer lived with his mom in a one bedroom apartment with a reported 14 guns that she bought? And she was reported as have accompanied him to the shooting range on several occasions. What was “isolated” about Chris Sean Mercer, Mr. Bush? He was enrolled at UCC as a student? He was on the production team of the school theatre? Give the criteria that you apply before you send in the swat team.

Common factors in “highly publicized” mass shootings

1. Gun Free zones
2. Use of psychoactive drugs (Ritalin etc.)
3. Prior psychological issues not available to the NICS
4. Radical indoctrination into a terroristic mindset.

Instead we want to “predict” who may be subject to a mental breakdown in the future? What a crock.

It is insanity.

Marxists are irrational and actually are insane—they believe in “utopianism”-—that if THEY had CONTROL of EVERY THOUGHT and IDEA YOUR children have——THEY will create “PERFECT” human beings.

Their removal of “Right Reason”-—from our Just Laws——is because of Postmodernism (irrational philosophy) where the Marxist vision (culture has to be completely controlled by GOVERNMENT intervention) is the ONLY WAY.

WE have to put back “Right Reason” in our “Justice” System AGAIN. WE need to take away the MONEY that is FUNDING IDIOCY-—(all the unconstitutional SYSTEMS which steal private property to make leeches filthy rich and reward VICE!!!.

WE should have a “JUSTICE” (VIRTUE) SYSTEM of laws-—not a VICE SYSTEM which promotes VICE (sodomy) 24/7 and STEALING AND IRRATIONALITY IN CHILDREN. We need to take back critical thinking skills (Classical Education) and bring back the Bible into the classroom which teaches Wisdom (discerning Good and Evil) and all about human nature. (Natural Law Theory).

The German “psychiatry” system was taken over by Marxists in the 70s to actually demean and destroy ALL TRUTH——ALL REASON and Christianity-—and elevate the Insane (sodomites) over us.

SCOTUS—(the evil Marxists) have done just that this year-—FORCING SATANIC ETHICS (and muslim ethics) into the AMERICAN “Justice” System which is ONLY based on Christian Virtue since that ideology/Theology is the ONLY ONE in line with Natural Law Theory and God’s Laws——combined-—which led to the AGE OF REASON and Modern Science and the US CONSTITUTION.

That is why ONLY Christian Theology is banned from the public square. They are making our children irrational and immoral (vice makes slaves)-—actually removed from Reality/Truth-—by removing and destroying the Natural Family which is the only unit which creates moral, RATIONAL, INDIVIDUALISM and embeds Truth/Reality. All other systems promote “group think” and artificial realities, and collective Minds ( where thinking outside the box is eliminated completely).

Anyone who attempts suicide especially in the military should be put on a list prohibiting them access to buy or use guns. Period. Make that list part of the background check for buying guns.

A step further could be to pass a psych test at the age of 18 to buy and keep a gun.

Weeds out the ka-ray-zees and good citizens keep their guns.

Competed BS coming from an empty suit. Jeb should not be entrusted with protecting the 2nd amendment.
This crap is just a slippery slope, someone makes a nut accusation against another and the investigation is begun with weapons confiscation.

What would be your alternative to weed out people who are set up to kill as many as they can and commit suicide, i.e., keep such people from having guns and/or prevent incidents like Roseburg?

I’m not asking for flames, I’m really interested in FR opinions.

It might help if they’d get PhRMA out of it. After the problems his daughter has had with prescription drugs, you’d think he’d have a little insight.
