Fired Polish priest says no 'gay lobby' in Vatican

Rome (AFP) - A high-ranking Polish priest who was fired after coming out as gay before the Vatican's key synod on the family said on Sunday that there was no "gay lobby" in the Church.

Krzysztof Charamsa told a private Italian television channel that he has "never met a gay lobby in the Vatican", referring to rumours of a network of homosexual priests.

"I met homosexual priests, often isolated like me... but no gay lobby," said Charamsa, adding that he also met gay priests who were "homophobes" and had "hatred for themselves and others".

"But I also met several fantastic homosexuals who are some of the best ministers in the Church," he said in an interview due to be broadcast Sunday.

Charamsa said he wrote a letter to Pope Francis asking him to convey his spirit of openness to bishops at the synod, where Church leaders discussed marriage and family teachings.

The pontiff has in the past spoken about homosexuality and the "gay lobby".

In 2013 he famously said "Who am I to judge?" when asked about homosexuals in the Church, and the rumoured network of gay Vatican leaders.

Since 2005, the Church has forbidden the ordination of priests with homosexual tendencies. But this rule is applied in different ways, with many bishops turning a blind eye as long as priests remain celibate.

Charamsa, who was fired from his post at the Vatican, says he has stayed faithful to his vow of celibacy because he has "never touched a woman".

Well, if this homosexual priest says there's no 'gay' lobby, that guarantees there is one! I can't believe what that faggot loon said in the last line of that article. How can this piece of garbage have ever become a priest?

I think it’s supposed to be a vow of chastity. Chastity is not the same thing as celibacy. Celibacy is not having sex. Chastity is much broader and is not having thoughts actions, etc which are not chaste. If a person who is striving to be chaste sees a TV ad which exploits a woman for example, he/she should change the channel. Better yet, just avoid commercial TV.

Not your grandfather’s US government and not your grandfather’s Catholic Church. Decent people - those still left, need to revolt against all this and force changes. If you are Catholic, STOP PUTTING MONEY IN THE COLLECTION BASKET! Tell them go dump this Pope or go bankrupt!

This pope is highly charismatic and yet he promotes lewd abominations.

Antichrist?

That's it...These nutjobs teach that you can only lose the celibacy war if a woman is involved...

"But I also met several fantastic homosexuals who are some of the best ministers in the Church,

"I met homosexual priests, often isolated like me... but no gay lobby," said Charamsa, adding that he also met gay priests who were "homophobes" and had "hatred for themselves and others".

I'll bet there's far fewer straight Catholic clergy than there are queers...But they are all good since they don't touch women...

If it was me, I'd get my family out of that den of sin called the Catholic church faster than you can say, 'get your hand out of my pocket, father'...

Obama helped pave the way for evil, but his popularity faded all too quickly. His corruption was too obvious. This pope is a ‘saint’ to many, the opposite of corrupt.

Has the credibility of Louis Farrakhan saying "there was no Black racism at his Million Man March."

Headline Correction: "Fired gay Polish priest says no 'gay lobby' in Vatican"

I know more than a few of them who hate that commie fraud. Obama is still popular with a large percentage of non-white and congenital Democrat whites. Depressing.

Flagrant homosexuals, those that advertise their deviancy, are like all liberals and druggies in that they are habitual liars.

Maybe it was lost in translation that he really said, “who am I to judge?”

Statistics show your statement to be false. However, it is undeniably true that the number of priests who are gay is higher than the national average on gas in the population. Many of them have left the priesthood, however, and the screening process is much stiffer now regarding sexual preferences among seminarians, with the goal being to weed gays out of the seminary.

"I met homosexual priests, often isolated like me... but no gay lobby," said Charamsa....

What a laugh. The church is teeming with homosexuals and pedophiles. Any time I see a catholic priest, the first thought that comes to mind is how many children has he molested.

Seems to me you would have to count on all queer priests to be honest and admit they are queer to get an accurate number...I can't imagine that happening...

He lied and did what he could for a while to cover it up. Speak what you will, but what would you prefer more, getting ousted for suspicion or dislike, or getting ousted because your wrongdoing is proven or confirmed? I would go with the latter. I don’t take what he said at face value because he is a liar anyways. Went in there and broke promises made when he could have resigned.
