Something a bit different this evening as these are all YouTube videos of a venue I really enjoy & hope you will as well. Live from Daryl's house can also be seen on the Palladium channel.
Live from Daryl's House (simply known as Daryl's House, and often abbreviated as LFDH) is an online series that was first created in the fall of 2007. The show features singer/songwriter Daryl Hall performing with his band and various guest artists at his home in Millerton, NY. The show provides a performance space that is an alternative to live concerts and studio sessions for popular artists. This allows the artists to
have fun and be creatively spontaneous. The majority of shows include a segment in which Daryl and the guest artist prepare food from different cuisines for everyone to eat. The food comes from various local restaurants and the chefs of those establishments walk Daryl and guest through the preparation of the food. Live From Daryl's House expanded to broadcast TV but remained unchanged. Hall was quoted by Billboard.com as saying "it's an Internet show that is being shown on television, so I'm not adapting the show at all in any way to be a 'TV' show."

Good evening, Maestro! I don't think I've heard that one in over fifty years, but as soon as I saw your post I heard it my inner ear.
Interesting that the "oldies" stations no longer bother with music from the 50's and 60's. I guess we're a demographic they no longer seek to attract.

There are still oldies stations dedicated to that era, but they're derided as "geezer rock." Still, they get ratings. WOGL in Philadelphia does well, and my old friend, the legendary Andy Barber, works at such a station in Tulsa, and he has become an institution in that town.
Our music will be around for a while longer.
Imagine what "classic rap oldies" will sound like? Just how many words rhyme with that unfortunate synonym for a female dog?

ROCKUMENTARY: OCTOBER 10, 1960
#1: Connie Francis: My Heart Has a Mind of Its Own
She was born Concetta Franconero in 1938, and shes still performing. It was Arthur Godfrey who came up with her stage name and told her to lose the accordion and concentrate on singing. (Welcome to hell! Heres your accordion.)
At first, time appeared to be out of joint for Connie. She could imitate other singers but failed to establish her own sound. One recording contract failed to produce a hit, and the second appeared to be headed for the same destination. She was about to quit and enroll at NYU when at her fathers insistence, she recorded the old 1923 chestnut Whos Sorry Now, which might have disappeared like her other releases, except that Dick Clark featured it on American Bandstand. It earned her a Gold Record and jump-started her career. She turned to the team of Neil Sedaka and Howard Greenfield at the Brill Building for her next hits, and this was one of them.
Connie was comfortable singing in Italian, Yiddish and other European languages, and her style ranged successfully throughout all popular forms. But she had a special gift for country, and this was her best example.
Connie Francis: My Heart Has a Mind of Its Own
Thats it for this weekend! See you next weekend for October 1961! Cue the Rockumentary theme on Turntable #2!
