Having Talked to several senior aides on Capitol Hill (along with Chris Stirewalt and his sources on the Hill tied to the leadership) here is the picture that is beginning to form.
Speaker John Boehner has agreed to stay on as Speaker--not just until the Caucus nominates someone --but, until that person can confirm 218 votes on the House floor (needed to take the Speaker’s gavel). Short of that – Boehner will stay on for the rest of this Congress and steer legislation that is pending.

Offer a privileged motion to vacate the chair and see how long Boehner stays on.
There are “republicans” that I despise more than some ‘rats.

They are scared shiftless of a conservative speaker of the House. Witness the calls for a bipartisan vote. Well, now they don’t have to do that—they have a Democrat.
The members can call a caucus or other meeting to establish no confidence in the leader and replace him, part of the Parliamentary Rules I was trying to align to all of this crap posturing so we can be rid of him and learn how the Hose and Senate are supposed to work
Gonna look into this deeper, he is not invulnerable by any means, he is hoping we will all play nice for the “Good of the Party”

Boner could have called for a vote today with Chaffetz and Webster running, but since there is a chance for conservative leadership with those two he quashed it.
The alcohol-saturated, uncontrollably weepy Cheeto will not leave until he cements another liberal establishment squish in his place. Bought and paid for, he is.

It’s the 218 votes that’s hurting conservatives. It’s a civil war and Boehner, like the governor in The Walking Dead, is telling all who will listen that they have to please the left or lose. And like the governor, his only objectives are personal and political power.
