Maybe he wasn't ready to slow-jam the news? John A. Boehner has pulled out of a scheduled appearance on "The Tonight Show."
The Republican speaker of the House, who announced his stunning decision to resign from Congress two weeks ago, had been slated to visit the NBC talk show Thursday night, but will not be appearing, NBC confirmed to the Times.
Boehner was only announced as a guest on Wednesday, an unusually short lead time for "Tonight." The show will not be replacing him with another guest, but will proceed with the planned lineup of Michael Fassbender, Brie Larson and Cee Lo Green.
An NBC spokesperson did not provide further details about the cancellation, but it comes amid the surprise news that Rep. Kevin McCarthy had pulled himself out of contention in the race for Boehner's job.
But the cancellation puts Boehner further out of step with his fellow politicians, who've been flocking to late night TV. In recent weeks, Fallon and his fellow hosts have welcomed the likes of Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, Gov. Chris Christie, Sen. Bernie Sanders, Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Sen. Ted Cruz.

Too Drunk To Make The Appearance ...... I’d take that bet
He probably couldn’t quit crying long enough to appear on the show.
I figure he had taken the early exit to get into a rehab program. Using this detour in speacher election as an excuse not to go.
LMAO....you beat me to it....
“When I drink alone, I prefer to be by myself!”
His only purpose for appearing on the Tonight Show was to campaign for Kevin McCarthy.
That is now a moot point, so he has no reason to appear.
The sooner this hack is gone, the better.
Too drunk to boogie.
Aaaaaaahahahahahahahaha!
Typical.
Talk is cheap to an orange colored drunk liar.
NEVER judge a lying GOP, EXEMPT traitor,
by his words. Judge the stinking scum by their actions.
And so far: THEY ARE STILL COMPLICITLY supporting
every corruption, every treason, and every
action against the US Constitution.
Nah. He was supposed to cry but the show didn;t have enough tissue paper.
Literally no one wants to watch Fallon interview Boner.
