WASHINGTON Representative Kevin McCarthy on Thursday abruptly took himself out of the race to succeed John A. Boehner as speaker, apparently undone by the same forces that drove Mr. Boehner to resign.

and we now have the spectacle of House GOP leadership canceling an election they could not rig.
Uniparty GOPe can't even sneak out the back door of the saloon. Remember when we were all enraged when Boehner got voted back as Speaker a year ago? I think that was Cruz and his like-minded friends in the House saying, NO, we don't fire until we see the whites of their eye, we'll bag way more corrupt RINOs that way. Seems to be working!

Nothing has changed
Boehner is still the speaker and isn't going anywhere.
McCarthy still has his job. For now.
And the Republican Party is going to pay a price for the games of bait and switch that they're playing.
Voters are still getting the finger and they'll be saluting back soon.
Me personally,
I want Boehner and McCarthy gone. Now.
I do not want chaffetz or paul ryan.
And after seeing king from ny talking about how the freedom caucus is holding the house hostage, well...
Some people just don't get it.

LOL! Yes, yes, I'd take her over Aiken, as well.
It could always be worse.

If you’re going to have “guest worker” (like Operation Vaquero), then it needs to be very tightly monitored. For one thing, we’d need to bring back the “all aliens must register” policy.
(Does anyone remember the funny “Mork and Mindy” episode on that?)

From the link:
Upon his ascension to become House Oversight chairman, The Atlantic reported that Chaffetzs vow was working more collaboratively with Democrats than his predecessor Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Cali.).
no thanks

It certainly is easy to poke fun at the chaos, said Josh Earnest, the White House press secretary.
You mean the chaos YOUR _Resident created in the ME?
I hate these people. Absolutely despise them!
Glad McCarthy is gone. GOPe? Listen to us!

Interesting take, though it would probably be impossible to challenge as the House governs its own affairs if they elected a nonmember as Speaker since there is nothing explicit to rule it out.
Although going along with the take that it was simply something that was understood as written, that is similar to the fact that the Chief Justice is a member of the Supreme Court, although it doesn’t actually say that in the Constitution. The Court is created, and a Chief Justice is an office mentioned as being required to preside over an impeachment Senate trial of a President, but it doesn’t actually spell out this office is part of the Supreme Court.

There are two other candidates, Chaffetz and Webster. Why has Boehner postponed election? Because his anointed one bowed out?

Well, who would you rather have (and not necessarily as your representative, but from McCarthy’s viewpoint)?
A) Renee Ellmers
B) Nancy Pelosi
C) Debbie Wasserman Schultz

I was out all morning. I remember reading a thread yesterday about a girlfriend in Congress. I wonder if that is what this is all about.
