In the aftermath of the horrific Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon, the reaction from the pro-gun control crowd was as expectedthe NRA is a terrorist organization, and we should have a nationwide gun control campaign. The former point is just plain absurdity. The latter is already happening, albeit with zero success. Mark Kelly, the husband of former Rep. Gabby Giffords (D-AZ), is already spewing the false 40 percent of gun sales are conducted without background check talking point. Yet, while the data crunchers keep doling out information about mass shootings, even the left-leaning Vox admitted that mass shootings represents a very small proportion of all gun violence. Violent crime and gun deaths have gone down again, and this narrative that the county has a gun violence epidemic doesnt hold up to scrutiny.

Gun violence? What about gang violence in certain settings?
Whew! I’m glad it was Matt Vespa that did the sourcing and not me. LOL! The little graph came from National Institute for Just-us and PEE U research so, yeah they may be questionable but probably easy to verify. Regardless, the increase in firearms and decrease in homicides was my thinking. Of course I could be wrong about that.
The left doesn’t care about violence in the inner city because it keeps Blacks down and ruins their lives. This way they remain a permanent victim subgroup.
They want to take guns from non-violent White citizens.
Since 13,000 die from HIV every year, why not outlaw sodomy? It could save as many lives as outlawing guns. (And such a law probably be as effective as a law outlawing guns, too.)
Same thing happens with automobiles. On average 90 people die per day in automobile accidents, but it is sensationalized news when 6 teens die in an accident on prom night.
In church yesterday, the pastor encouraged us to contribiute to the Peace & Global Witness Special Offering. A brochure was included in our service’s bulletin.
In the brochure, there was a list of “Conflicts Around The Corner”. The VERY FIRST item listed was Gun Violence...with a sub-paragraph stating “Over 30,000 Americans were killed by firearms in 2013.(1)” The footnotes on the last page for “sources” indicated footnote (1) came from a 2013 US CDC study.
It was all I could do to sit thru the rest of the service WITHOUT pulling out my phone and looking that up. After church, I researched it and found the number to be accurate. However...
The one thing the brochure forgot to mention...21,000 of those gun deaths were SUICIDE!
Needless to say, I will not be sending them a check.
And, it probably won’t do any good to point out the misleading numbers to the pastor either. Probably some ‘council’ way up stream form him puts this kind of garbage out. Worth a shot though. Oh, maybe I should use different terminology.
Anyone know if Democrat Underground runs hundreds of conservative threads?
