The classic definition of chutzpah the guy who murders his parents and then begs for mercy because hes an orphan is getting a rewrite with the Oct. 16 release of Truth, a movie that insists forged documents are real.
Robert Redford, who makes no effort whatsoever to look or sound like Dan Rather, plays the CBS newsman undone after he presented to the public obviously forged documents about then-President George W. Bushs Texas Air National Guard service in the early 1970s.

So, is Free Republic going to have a role in the movie?

Dan Rather was (and remains) to ethical and responsible journalism what flesh eating disease is to a healthy human body.
And that goes for the rest of his liberal unintelligentsia fellow travelers too.

"So, is Free Republic going to have a role in the movie?"
In the trailer, it's referred to as "these blogs", as in "these blogs are saying that the documents are fake."
To: Sir Napsalot
The movie is based on Mapes' book. What do you expect? Of course, she's going to be vindicated and painted as a heroine.
In the trailer, my favorite part is that Cate Blanchett keeps saying, "You don't get to do this because we asked the question." and "I shouldn't have asked the question."
There's absolutely nothing wrong with asking the question. It's what good journalists do. What you did wrong was ANSWER the question with fake documentation that did not hold up to scrutiny, instead of researching the story, verifying the facts, and running with it when you had the story buttoned up.
You put politics ahead of accuracy, and you paid the price for it.
To: Zakeet
Truth makes it appear that the documents contents were verified by a senior officer in Bushs unit, Gen. Bobby Hodges. Mapes is seen reading the documents over the phone to him, and Hodges agrees that they accurately reflected the mindset of Bushs late commander, Lt. Col. Jerry Killian, whose signature is on the documents.
That, in reality, did not happen
Fake, but accurate.

It’s all part of the same plot used by Nixon to frame the Rosenbergs!

The Entertainment Industry always creates THEIR perfect world in movies and on TV. Just like the West Wing when Bush was President, Libs live through their tough times by pretending the world really agrees with them. Sadly, a lot of LIVs will think they are telling the truth because the LIVs invest their emotion in movies and TV. If Hollywood makes a movie about it and changes the narrative, well then Hollywood must be telling the truth. Pathetic.
