What they mean is, that McConnell has been deprived of someone who will go along with his insidious plans, and has lost someone with a similar visceral hatred of conservatives, and who willingly used his enormous power to thwart them.

I think the GOP is going to wake up on the morning of NOV 9 2016 and wonder what happened to their presidential candidate and their majorities in the House and Senate.
Similar to 2012, they will point fingers at everyone except themselves.

Fox News reported that McConnell wants to meet with Obama to pass a budget for the next TWO years. Guess Planned Parenthood is that important to them.
