Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad must leave office or face being turfed out by force, Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir said Tuesday, warning of stepped up support for Syrian rebel groups.
Jubeir rejected Russian calls for an international coalition to help Assad fight the Islamic State group, and said the Syrian leader's best option would be to step down.
"There is no future for Assad in Syria, with all due respect to the Russians or anyone else," Jubeir told reporters in New York after meetings with Saudi Arabia's allies.
"There are two options for a settlement in Syria. One option is a political process where there would be a transitional council," he said, describing this as the "preferred option."
"The other option is a military option, which also would end with the removal of Bashar al-Assad from power," Jubeir warned.
"This could be a more lengthy process and a more destructive process, but the choice is entirely that of Bashar al-Assad."

Saudi’s and co. not taking in refugees so as not to look suspicious.
This explains exactly WHO owns Lyndsey Graham.
Yes, because the Syrian rebels pretty much are ISIS.
What I don’t get is that Saudi has a fraction of our oil. We don’t need them. Of course using theirs mean ours can be environmentally put off limits and the population controlled...So I suppose I do get it.
Assad isn’t going anywhere.
The al-Saud clan? Perhaps.
They might be able to do Yemen, who obviously can’t fight back on a level playing field.
Them taking on a Russia, would be really insane, because Russia can and would fight back and no matter how many is in Saudi’s coalition, I don’t think they could win against Russia.
Just what is the House of Saud going to do about it but flap their trap like Obummer?
Along with Pakistan.
They also kissed each other, and Obama couldn’t wait to go and kiss the ring of the new Saudi Dictator.
The House of Hapsburg in 1915 was a lot more secure than the House of Saud is in 2015.
We can agree on that.
The Sauds have already discussed getting nukes from the Paks. If it goes hot, you are right, the Saudis are no match for Russia, and it may quickly become a fight for the Kingdom’s survival.
Enter theater tactical nuke exchange?
Nowhere one hopes or that would really be Armageddon.
“Nowhere one hopes or that would really be Armageddon.”
They are aligned with Egypt and the Saudis, AND now have Russian forces on their border.
Not good........
seems to me this is the pot calling the kettle black
The choices one is having to make now are incredibly appalling. I’m not a fan of Iran either, I truly despise Saudi Arabia and have felt this way for years, they’re going to CRUCIFY some teenager and this is considered normal, I’ve lost track on how many heads the Saudi’s have chopped off this year.
The Saudi law IS the ISIS law, ISIS are a joint Obama-Saudi creation.
Given a choice right now, I’d be happy for Saudi Arabia to be put out of business.
Well yes, that about sums it up.
The whole Saudi ‘um leadership would have to be put out of business, none could remain, because there are some really insane Princes, who by their words sound like ISIS themselves.
The Saudi Foreign Minister is one of the insane ones, his previous comments about things are totally extreme.
The world has gone Thru The Looking Glass.
